About the Role
The Production Planner creates timely, effective, and accurate production schedules for the division and any outsource suppliers, using master production schedules, to ensure a continuous flow of material. The planner also projects inventory levels and prepares documents required for manpower planning.
Your Responsibilities

Creates/modifies and communicates schedules for all production processes and equipment based on customer demand and recommending overtime as required.

Works with production and suppliers to manage inventory levels that fall within the Presstran PFEP parameters and protect customer delivery performance ratings.

Promptly addressing and resolving production issues to minimize delays in production

Coordinates and executes engineering changes/program buildouts/prototype builds/service builds and works to minimize obsolescence and scrap.

Works with various production and support departments to drive improvements to inventory accuracy.

Schedule vendors to supply material on a timely basis to meet production schedule, expedite, and recommend material substitution as required.

Actively works with Purchasing to ensure all supply gaps are identified and addressed with actions to protect Presstran operations.

Follow up with all suppliers and logistics carriers to ensure on-time delivery of RAW material and components to Presstran.

Review supplier requirements and past due status daily and works to track and address all supplier delivery performance issues.

Ensure all work instructions are accurately maintained for all aspects of the Production Planner position

Stands in for other Planners to balance workload, train other employees and cover vacation as required.
Who we are looking for
Someone Who:
-
Has previous experience in a J.I.T. environment is preferred.

Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Has excellent mathematical, analytical and organizational skills
-
Has advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel
-
Is able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a busy environment.
Your preferred qualifications
-
Completion of related post-secondary education, Supply Chain Management or Materials Management is preferred or CPIM APICS certification and of two years related work experience.

Automotive background with an understanding of Material Release Planning (MRP) systems an asset.
