Role Summary
The WCM Leader leads the training and implementation of WCM and lean concepts within the facility and is the key catalyst for concept adoption within division. The WCM Leader also will coordinate problem solving activities and projects that key to overall divisional initiatives. Within this the WCM Leader oversees the success and improvement of the following programs: Mafact, Employee Involvement (Suggestion), 5S, Sustainability (Energy Reduction, Waste Reduction).
Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Completion of a related specialized course or engineering or Industrial related program from a recognized community college or university, consisting of more than two academic years. Equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be considered
- 3-5 years related work experience in multiple areas of a manufacturing environment. Experience in an Automotive environment is a definite asset
- Strong knowledge of continuous improvement techniques, Six Sigma techniques, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TWI, and Quality and Environmental Management Systems
- Have had the opportunity to act as a role model to support cultural change and to foster behaviours that drive continuous improvement and employee involvement
- Strong project management skills and experience
- Able to deal effectively with people and exhibit maturity in judgement. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with employees throughout the plant
- Must have experience delivering presentations, facilitating project planning and proposal development, and measuring improvement effectiveness
- Strong technical background with ability to ‘think outside the box’ and challenge the status quo by encouraging creative thinking and supporting ideas beyond those of a traditional manufacturing industry
- Must have above average computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft office software
- Must have a solid working knowledge (oral and written) of both English and Mathematics
- Good organizational, leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Must have good communication skills
- Able to work shift work as role may require
- Able to be flexible in hours of work to meet internal/external customer requirements
- Familiarity with quality core tools (ie FMEA, APQP, MSA, etc)
- Well-developed communication, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical abilities
Key Responsibilities
- Encourage, support, educate and promote the benefits of becoming a Lean Organization utilizing Lean tools and concepts.
- Oversee, lead and co-ordinate regular, practical improvement in Mafact World Class Manufacturing program and score.
- Oversee Employee Improvement (Suggestion) program to promoted involvement and ensure achievement of targets.
- Oversee the Sustainability program (Energy Reduction, Waste to Landfill reduction) program to promote involvement and ensure achievement of targets.
- Leads the division wide 5S program and activity.
- Acquire an in-depth understanding and knowledge of Presstran’s manufacturing operations and supporting processes.
- Support and conduct Kaizen activities throughout facilities.
- Ensure Presstran business plan and departmental goals and objectives are met.
- Conduct all business activity in a professional manner consistent with the positive professional practices of building trust, empowerment, and competitiveness, with emphasis on personal responsibility.

- Design and complete experiments to show the benefits of potential improvements visually, statically and or using data-driven, evidence-based decision making.
- Tracking, reporting, and analysis of metrics relating to program(s) maturity, participation and business benefits.
Planning and Organization
- Takes lead in implementation of overall divisional projects as defined by divisional senior leadership.
Problem Solving - Improvement
- Investigate and remedy issues using approved problem-solving techniques: 5 Why, Fishbone analysis, etc.
- Prepare, facilitate, and actively participate in production department lean teams, activities, and events.
- Follow through with open issues and monitor progress.
- Ensure the implementation of improvement suggestions is completed within the targeted time period and budget.
- Continually look for, suggest, and implement ideas to improve all programs.
Communications
- Identify, communicate, and implement opportunities to meet and exceed established targets that will improve overall safety, productivity, quality, and service.
- Thoroughly and accurately track and communicate all required data related to all programs.
Leadership
- Provides leadership for WCM activities for direct reports and division overall.

Equipment: General office equipment such as PC, Phone, Copier
Software: Microsoft Office, SharePoint, HSE Links, WorkDay, ADP, Document Manager, etc.
RESPONSIBILITY AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Under the general direction of the General Manager, the WCM Leader will perform a variety of tasks. The Leader works independently and confers regularly with inside and outside contacts to ensure successful implementation of programs & projects. Periodic day travel is required with occasional overnight accommodation at various locations, as well as overtime required to meet program expectations. The Leader works in an office environment but will be exposed to elements such as temperature and noise during time spent in the plant or at customer or supplier facilities. Ability to obtain and retain a valid passport is required.
