Role Summary
Responsible for managing resources and personnel to meet production schedules, productivity targets, quality targets and safety objectives within a MAFACT team environment. All aspects and functions involved in production of quality parts and to complying with the requirements of MPTSH and our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for an efficient, team driven, quality focused operation that promotes an attitude of continuous improvement, in the areas of cost, quality, delivery, safety and technology.
- Responsible to provide a safe work environment for all employees through organization, cleanliness and open communication that assure compliance with State and Federal regulations regarding safety.
- Lead the team in accomplishing objectives and goals set.
- Perform the start of shift activities
- Review of previous shift information regarding safety, quality, and productivity issues.
- Make work assignment adjustments based on absenteeism, training, etc.
- Walk the production area to confirm 5S, equipment readiness, and material supply conditions are to standard.
- Participates in pre-shift Team Member Tier 1 meeting.
- Perform the end of shift activities
- Prepare safety, quality and productivity communication information for next shift
- Check that 5S, equipment readiness, and material supply conditions are to standard at end of shift.
- Responsible for conducting audits such as LPA’s, Housekeeping, safety, line purging, etc.
- Ensure communication occurs with Production Supervisors.
- Keep Supervisors/Operations Manager informed of any issues of concern. According to the standard escalation process.
- Review active Quality Alerts and ensure the team is aware of the issues.
- Directs, develops, mentors and coaches all direct reports.
- Deliver Team Leader/Team Member training using TWI training – Job Instruction.
- Assign and manage personnel and equipment resources to meet daily production requirements and shipments to customers.
- Confirm that Daily Production Reporting is accurate and Leaders are properly trained (MES platforms and whiteboards if applicable)
- Check that all pre-production safety, quality and productivity checks are completed by Team Leaders or Team Members.
- Ensure that only trained operators are assigned to jobs and that standardized work instructions are being followed and the Training Matrix is up-to-date and ensure that there is a Team Leaders/Team Members Training Schedule.
- Complete Accident Investigation reports as necessary.
- Maintain and continuously improve the organization and cleanliness of the facility.
- Conduct employee appraisals as required on time.
- Ensure proper identification and disposition of products.
- Assist the organization in implementation of MAFACT, including lean, standardized work, 5S practical improvements and ensure that all the continuous improvement activities are documented.
- Participates in continuous improvement activities, submits improvement suggestions.
- Participates as Team Member in problem solving activities (OEE improvements, A3, 8D, etc.).
- Work with Engineering and MAFACT teams to develop and implement standardized work for all processes on their respective line(s). Current and new launches.
- Perform audits to ensure standardized work is adhered to.
- Initiate corrective measures for non-standardized work and daily maintenance of Team Board
- Keep all operators informed about daily targets and company goals and objectives.
- Completes Time & Attendance tasks as required on time.
- Demonstrates and promotes Core Values.
- Investigate and implement counter measures for shift incidents along with appropriate departments (Die Setters, Tool & Die Repair, Maintenance and Quality Auditors).
- Assist in development of production schedule with Materials Department.
Supervisory Responsibilities / Education & Certification
Manage all employees in the Production Department including Operators, Hi-lo drivers, Custodian and Leaders. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of direct reports. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, mentoring and coaching, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Associates degree in business or technical preferred. 1-2 years previous supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Metal stamping and weld/assembly experience. Experience with Microsoft Office.
Hi Lo permit.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, sing whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to create and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient on the computer, including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Prior experience utilizing AS400 Database software and ability to create spreadsheets.
