Role Summary

Functional Project Engineering lead from Cradle to Grave (Quoting, Development, Launch/PPAP, and Post-Production support including Service).  Responsible for all new programs, customer and internal related engineering changes and technical support to the manufacturing functions of stampings, assembly and machining.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for Cradle to Grave (quoting, development, launch/PPAP, and post-production support including service).
  2. Maintain Divisional PDP (product development plan) and Change Management Processes
  3. Maintain Divisional Quote Process
  4. Maintain Divisional Commercial Open Issues List
  5. Maintain Divisional Commercial Open Issues List
  6. Maintain Divisional Aftersales and Tool Disposition Process
  7. Lead - Contract Review Process and Project Assignment
  8. Function as Divisional Gate-Keeper of Vaulted documents
  9. Other General Responsibilities

Key Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from four-year college or university and minimum three years of experience with stamping, machining, or assembly processes (all is preferred); or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Understands fundamental terminology related to process, tooling, and equipment. Strong mechanical inclination and hands-on skills. Proficient in MS Suite software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) to conduct all job responsibilities. Able to establish, manage, reprioritize, and track program/project timing.  Excellent organizational skill. Understands document control and able to conform to document retention standards. Self-starter who is positive minded, intuitive, and professional. Able to set priorities and multitask projects. Required to be proactive and suggest improvements to existing processes policies and systems.  Able to work hours required to comply with deadlines and to support corrective actions when they are needed. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.  Excellent attendance and satisfactory work performance record. 
Willing to further education or receive training to improve skillset as required.
Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Able to read and understand engineering drawings. Understands GD&T.  Able to create engineering drawings using CAD software (Bricks-CAD preferred).   Able to create, review, and updated tolerance stack-ups (including GD&T) without support.  Able to view, create, and modify 3D models using CAD software (Solid Works preferred).  Basic understanding of CNC programming and/or PLC programming, or has technical competency to become proficient through training.
Understands the deliverables for cross functional teams and able to integrate into holistic program timing.  Understands APQP and related Process Engineering Deliverables.  Understands and able to proficiently practice Process FMEA methodology.  Understands lean manufacturing principles and 8 wastes.  Able to create a production value stream map without support.  Understands error proofing and common error proofing methodology and devices used in process equipment, production tooling, and assembly work cells.  Understands and able to proficiently conform to company standards for Health and Safety and Ergonomics.

Additional Skills

Language Skills: Requires extensive tact and communication skills (verbal and written) for direct customer communication.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Able to effectively communicate with customers, peers, management and plant personnel effectively (written and verbal).  Able to communicate in English effectively (both written and oral).
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to create and interpret graphs.  Reasoning Skills:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.  Ability to use problem solving when presented with problems or duties that do not have immediate answers or results.
Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient on the computer, including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Project Management software.  Prior experience utilizing AS400 Database software, AutoCAD and ability to create spreadsheets. 
Communication Skills:  Ability to use active listening and assertive communication when needed.  
Problem Solving Skills:  Understands and able to proficiently practice Problem Solving 8D and Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) methodology.  Is able to conduct individually or in team settings structured problem solving. Understands and can apply 5 Why mythology, Skillful in analysis of problems, research to identify root causes and find solutions, creativity to find robust and effective solutions to problems.  Able to make decisions based on available information. Has sufficient technical knowledge to support effective problem solving.
