Role Summary

To assure the quality and longevity of all dies through troubleshooting and repairs to dies, both in the press and/or on the bench, to enable us to produce a product that consistently meets or exceeds MPT Sterling Heights’ high standards for quality.  This position is responsible for all aspects and functions of the work required to maintain tools including tool maintenance, troubleshooting and repair, continuous improvement and MAFACT (Magna Operational Principal) activities.

Key Responsibilities

This position is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing dies in the press or on the bench per directives from leader.

Will schedule preventative maintenance.

Participates in the apprentice training if needed.

Will participate in CI (Continuous Improvement) activities including submitting suggestions.

Involved with implementation of MAFACT standards including lean and standardized work processes.

Ability to set up and run all Tool Room equipment and machines along with setup and operation of Toolroom machines.

Responsible for completing all Toolroom documentation and reports.

Will be responsible for the safety, cleanliness and orderliness of the Toolroom and press while performing work.

Able to dry run dies and check clearances and alignment of tools.  In addition, able to time out binder pads and lifters.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

High School Diploma or G.E.D.  Journeyman’s card or equivalent combination of education and experience.  5-7 years’ experience with progressive, transfer and line dies. Read, understand and interpret prints.
