Role Summary

The CMM/GOM Technician is responsible for plant equipment, preventative, predictive AND remedial maintenance. The CMM/GOM Technician will ensure the reliability and consistent performance of the CMM and GOM equipment. The CMM/GOM Technician will also be responsible to perform “NEW” product launch activities with respect to programming and helping to design fixtures. Duties under statutory compliance according to various government regulations.

The role also includes active participation, and lead, in Continuous Improvement activities and projects, both directly linked to metrology, and additionally the wider plant improvements beyond the traditional scope, and boundary of the metrology Lab . This role will include the analysis of statistical data utilising the advanced functions of Excel, and additionally Minitab.

Hours of work: 3 shift rotating (6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm and 10pm to 6am)

Key Responsibilities

The role entails but is not limited to:-

  • Work collaboratively to support the customer and team through innovation, lessons learned and best practices
  • Responsible for coordinating part measurement activities
  • Interpret the customers systems and specifications and ensure they are met
  • Use escalation processes and procedures where required for dimensional issues
  • Support to ensure the phased/gated deliverables in the APQP process (and customer websites) are met on time
  • Validate product quality requirement for tool buyoff and all build phase MRD’s
  • Comply with the MSA requirements and QMS Control of NCM.
  • Coordinate program status updates with the QA Engineering
  • To be computer literate and able to use MS Office package and MiniTab
  • Other duties as required.
  • Ensure reports are double checked for errors and root cause is determined for all RED/Failed conditions
  • Approx. 70% CMM, 30% GOM Blue Light Operation
  • Maintain and carry out a Schedule of Annual layouts for parts and fixtures
  • Carry out MSA where required

Experience

Essential:

  • Experience in automotive related field
  • Able to work in various locations within and outside the plant –Customer area
  • APQP & PPAP
  • MSA, SPC, QMS and NCM
  • Calypso CMM Programming Experience  (similar CMM Software, e.g. PC-DMIS) from Customer CAD and/or 2D Drawings.
  • Prepare, read and interpret reports, instructions & guidelines

Desirable

  • Casting experience
  • Experience using hand held measuring equipment
  • GD&T Experience
  • GOM Metrology Systems or Blue Light Technology
