Mission of the Position
The Advanced Engineering eMotor Engineer will work in the advanced engineering e-motor group within pre-development. They evaluate new and innovative fields of technology and applies them to new applications in coordination with the Future Products and Serial Production Groups. The engineer will work closely with the global advanced engineering team, while staying connected and close to the North American product engineering organization.
We are seeking intermediate to senior level candidates – level determined based on candidate experience and expertise in the required areas outlined below.
As an Intermediate level engineer, the engineer will work independently with limited supervision to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using knowledge and judgement to make adaptations and modifications.
As a Senior Engineer, the engineer will independently perform a wide variety of complex/advanced engineering work to include planning, designing, and carrying out work assignments, often serving as a technical authority of the department with little to no supervision. The engineer will mentor and guide less experienced team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluation of the state of the art and new innovative technologies (including benchmarking) in the field of electric motor design with a focus on traction drives.
- Close contact to other departments of the company as well as to cooperation partners in the field of industry and research.
- Design, calculation, and simulation of electric motors for traction drives in motor vehicles.
- Development or further development of the calculation and simulation tools (benchmarking, calibrations).
- Identification, evaluation, and implementation of technical innovations.
- Development of scalable tools and methods for designing the defined technologies.

Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, or mechatronics required, Master’s degree preferred.
- 5 – 7 years of experience in eMotor design engineering (intermediate) required.
- 7-10 year of experience in eMotor design engineering (senior) required.
- Experience/knowledge in designing and simulating electrical machines.
- Know-how in the field of electrical drive technology.
- Methodical way of working and focus on model-based development.
- Experience in the field of technologies for e-machine production.
- Experience in handling FE tools for electromagnetic design, preferably ANSYS RMxprt, ANSYS Maxwell 2D/3D, Motor-CAD, JMAG.
- An understanding of the requirements of automotive technology and knowledge of the relevant standards are an advantage.
- Interest in electrical machines and drive technology, as well as enthusiasm for eMobility.
- Results oriented and independent way of thinking.
Work Environment
Office environment; minimal travel required.
While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes and various levels of temperature created by manufacturing processes.
