Role Summary
This position is responsible for analyzing Carbon Capture technologies for the purpose of identifying application to automobile designs. Key objectives include conducting/documenting research on carbon capture mechanisms and materials, assessment of options for application to vehicle systems & components, and development of initial proposals for commercialization.
Key Responsibilities
Carbon Capture research:
• Develop tutorial on carbon capture chemistry
• Summarize materials and mechanisms including release of captured carbon
• Summary of university and industry work relevant to automotive
Application to Automotive – vehicle, system, and component level:
• Summarize engineering concepts applicable to automotive application
• Estimate CO2 reduction impact of engineering concepts
• Work with MAGNA material & product groups on initial feasibility assessments
• Conduct application discussions with raw material suppliers
Commercialization proposals:
• Develop rough timing for top engineering proposals – near/mid/long term horizon
• Identify addressable market for each proposal
• Develop initial cost assessments – investment and material costs
Key Qualifications/Requirements
• Completion of coursework in Chemistry at the undergraduate level
• Must be fluent in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
• Basic knowledge of automobile and automotive engineering is a plus
• Major focused on Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or Chemistry required
• Currently attending university (Junior or above level preferred) or undergraduate degree complete
• Proficient Computer knowledge and skill, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Good communication skills (written and verbal) and good presence
• Ability to find and extract valuable information from public data and/or internet
• High interest in environmental protection topics and the automotive industry
Additional Information
• Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.
