Mission of the Position

 

Supports and implements supply base strategy for Magna Powertrain North America in assigned Electronics commodities.

Key Responsibilities

 

• In coordination with Strategic Commodity Manager and purchasing counterpart in other global regions, develop and
  implement commodity strategies in assigned electronics commodities (technology, footprint, quality, economics,
  supply base reduction / consolidation, etc.).
• Evaluate supplier cost structure to obtain best overall value on behalf of MPT, Minimize collective risk through
  favorable raw material, currency adjustment mechanisms
• Utilize a total cost approach to optimize piece prices for new and existing business in the assigned commodities.
  Tactics to include program bundling, global sourcing & leverage, dual sourcing, tariff & USMCA duty mitigation,
  specification / tolerance / material changes, process optimization, VAVE, logistics & packaging optimization,
  payment term improvement.
• Assist MPT divisions in establishing supplier Long Term Agreements and supplier giveback terms.
• Manage supplier relationship through regular business & roadmap reviews and disciplined contract management (NDA,
  Terms & Conditions, Nominations Letters, Settlement Agreements, etc.).
• Monitor electronics component lead time and global allocation status to avoid any supply disruption to MPT plants
• Lead a cross functional team in support of the assigned electronics commodities, including Program Management,
  Engineering, Production Controls and Logistics, Supplier Quality Development and Quality departments
• Coordinate supplier development, consolidation, and reduction programs/suppliers
• In coordination with Operational Purchasing, develop and execute divisional cost savings initiatives & risk
  mitigation strategies on existing business to achieve annual savings budgets.
• Within a given electronics commodity, assure purchasing leveraging is optimized by providing oversight of the
  consolidated buy for all the MPT Divisions
• Able to construct complex excel models for estimating and simulating any business issue.
• Keep senior MPT management informed of critical issues through clear and concise communications and
  presentations.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

 

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, business, or related discipline, Engineering degree preferred
• Minimum 5 years automotive purchasing experience
• Self-starter, excellent people and problem-solving skills, strong task ownership and superior work ethic
• Must be able to relate and communicate well with people at all levels
• Must be familiar with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards

Work Environment

 

Ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 20% of the time.

 

While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes and various levels of temperature created by manufacturing process.
