Magna Steyr is looking for talented and experienced team members in complete vehicle development who are determined and passionate about developing the next level industry standard for vehicle architectures and production solutions.   The Engineering Product Data Manager is responsible to lead the activities relating to the transfer, coordination and archiving of design and development data for the project module groups.  This position has a high level of responsibility and visibility and will interface with OEMs, Magna divisions, global module group teams and Tier 2 suppliers.   


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  


Technical Responsibility

  • Contribute to the Global Technical Area (GTA) strategy and lead in the capability growth of the engineering team
  • Support and develop Technical Area (TA) core competencies 
  • Support and contribute to knowledge base of internal and external best practices
  • Propose continuous improvement opportunities to level up team skills, qualifications, tools and processes
  • Manage and negotiate requirements, change requests and unwritten expectations.
  • Coordinate data upload, data preparation, data reprocessing and data exchange with partners
  • Coordinate with partners for data upload and data exchange
  • Review design documents like requirement specifications, test specifications, architectures, etc.
  • Manage data curation (data maintenance, repair activities, deletion of unused files)
  • Manage data for complete automotive lifecycles, concept though serial production and aftersales


Project Planning, Target Achievement, Monitoring & Reporting

  • Employ technical expertise to support the engineering development of one or more projects
  • Acquire, develop, understand, and document data management platform requirements based on requests from internal/external customers.
  • Gather, wrap up, and communicate project milestones and needs in a clear and unambiguous way
  • Support the project team(s) engineering in achieving project objectives, performance and cost requirements, and timing milestones
  • Lead external support, services and resources supporting the project data management function
  • Responsible for work development packages assigned to third parties
  • Confirm OEM and Magna project data management cost and timing targets and assure the targets are achievable
  • Support the Project Manager (PM) and contribute to the project resource planning, budget development, and status reporting 
  • Responsible for the release of Computer Aided Design (CAD) data into internal and external sites
  • Responsible for the release of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), simulations and studies into internal or external sites
  • Manage project TA according to the agreed head count, budget, and outside service or support plan


Project Related Interface 

  • Support and Promote Project and Operations Collaboration 
  • Lead global data management touchpoint and milestone meetings 
  • Collaborate with all cross functions to make complex decisions
  • Collaborate with the Global Technical Area Head (GTAH) to assure concurrent best practice sharing
  • Collaborate with all project GTAs


Employee Related Tasks

  • Ensure cooperation with all areas within Engineering and request the required frame conditions
  • Ensure cooperation with Project Management
  • Ensure cooperation with all other groups within the area
  • Secure knowledge of development tools within the group
  • Ensure training of employees according to the required skills
  • Cooperate with all Magna Steyr locations
  • Escalate problems at the earliest time with the appropriate team members 



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering;  Master's degree preferred
  • 10+ years' experience in data management with automotive and serial production; mandatory 
  • 2+ years' experience in project management preferred 
  • Experience in Complete Vehicle development and manufacture 
  • Experience supervising or managing technical personnel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience working with global teams
  • Experience in launching a complete vehicle



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Proficient knowledge and skills in PLM, CAD and CAE platforms
  • Knowledge of NA OEM release systems, Ford, Stellantis, and GM
  • Six Sigma certification preferred
  • Must have a positive “can do” attitude
  • Ability to be flexible and able to course correct paths according to priority alignment

Work Environment: 

  • Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer
  • Position may require local, domestic and international travel – less than 15% domestic + international
