Position Overview

Magna is seeking talented & nimble engineer to join our engineering team to solve challenging problems towards advancing mobility for everyone and everything. An ideal candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced environment and comfortable working with ambiguity to develop innovative solutions solving problems related to people and goods mobility. You will be responsible for developing concepts, prototyping, validation and launching them into production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Experience in developing electromechanical systems using controllers, sensors, actuators, etc.
  • Ability to assess electrical designs, identify issues and suggest improvements in harness design, connection systems, fusing, grounding, wire routing and clipping, etc.
  • Experience of vehicle and/or small mobile device diagnostics, network communications, low/medium voltage systems, system architectures, power distribution, etc.
  • Develop creative engineering solutions to solve complex problems. 
  • Hands on experience in developing and building proof of concepts for feasibility assessments.
  • Create specifications and requirements to meet functional objectives.
  • Develop hardware solutions from scratch, or through modification of existing systems.
  • Identify and adequately document issues; own issues and support issue resolution including the verification and release process to meet program deadlines. 
  • Ability to explain concepts and theories in simple and clear manner to peers and management. 
  • Analyze engineering results and propose product changes to determine feasibility, improvement of components and systems and functional/performance specifications
  • Support Testing & Validation department by specifying test requirements & acceptance criteria and ensuring tests are completed on time and to specification
  • Collaborate with other project engineers to clarify or resolve problems and develop solutions
  • Use related computer software and equipment to perform technical analyses
  • Ability to travel domestic and international
  • Perform other duties as required


  • Minimum 3+ years of electromechanical systems development experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field and/or experience.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field is preferred

Special Knowledge / Skills

  • Strong English language skills, both spoken and written; additional language skills desired
  • Working / practical knowledge of best engineering practices for designing for functional safety 
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA/PFMEA)
  • Knowledge of low and high-volume manufacturing processes and assembly methods
  • Technical ability and creativity to initiate, direct and control specific projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)

Physical Demands/Work Environment

Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.  Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
