Role Summary

The Manager, Immigration will support the administration of immigration services and programs at Magna, focusing on U.S. and global issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with management and execution of all matters pertaining to U.S. immigration, including counseling HR Managers, Recruiters, employees, and prospective employees on immigration strategy, visa application procedures, eligibility of employment, visa/work authorization renewals, and employment-based permanent residency
  • Operate as a subject matter expert and consult for immigration related matters including process, cost, compliance and business impact and expectations
  • Manage the relationship with Immigration Attorneys and service providers to ensure timely filings and renewals of all immigration applications and delivery of quality service
  • Prepare visa applications and supporting documents
  • Facilitate issuance of short-term business visas and travel letters for international business travelers including research, provision of direction: Draft, review, and execute documents as needed
  • Ensure compliance with immigration regulations and all record keeping requirements
  • Keep abreast of legislative/policy/system/process changes                     
  • Assist with management of tracking system and collaborate with team to ensure process improvement
  • Prepare reports: gather, analyze and summarize data

Key Qualifications/Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field highly preferred    


Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of law firm experience in immigration
  • Familiarity with employment-based immigration processes in U.S. and visa application processes globally            


Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Strong critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong competency in core professional skills, especially attention to detail, responsiveness, follow-through, flexibility, initiative, and tact.
  •  Ability to lead projects, multitask and prioritize and delegate tasks appropriately
