Role Summary

Magna Steyr is looking for talented and experienced team members in complete vehicle development who are determined and passionate about developing the next level industry standard for vehicle architectures and production solutions.   In the validation discipline, the Senior Engineer is responsible to lead complete vehicle DVP&R and support as required system and subsystem validation planning, maintenance, and execution.  This position has a high level of responsibility and visibility and will interface with OEMs, Magna divisions, global module group teams, performance attribute leaders and testing resources.   

Key Responsibilities

Technical Responsibility
Contribute to the Global Technical Area (GTA) strategy and growth of the engineering team
•    Support Technical Area (TA) core competencies growth as required by Technical Manager
•    Support and contribute to knowledge base of internal and external best practices
•    Lead studies in performance requirements and validation requirements and contribute to the validation knowledgebase
•    Propose and lead test and validation topics supporting the Technical Area and projects where assigned
•    Propose continuous improvement opportunities to level up team skills, qualifications, tools and processes
•    Lead or support validation proposals identifying component, system, and vehicle level testing required per development phase
•    Lead or support the development of the complete vehicle and subsystem level DVP&R including defining the test quantity, product level for each subsystem per project phase and whether tests are virtual or empirical
•    Lead or support the roll down of performance and certification targets to the tiered suppliers 
•    Support complex problem solving with cross functional teams
•    Support hardware manager to fulfill DVP&R requirements
•    Support benchmark activities with test planning and test tracking
•    Support attribute teams on creation/update of new/modified test standards and to contribute to Magna Steyr database growth
•    Support PTFA (Prototype Functional Assessment) to ensure test properties are build fit to purpose
•    Support winter/summer and management buy off ride’s organization and execution

Project Planning, Target Achievement, Monitoring & Reporting
Employ technical expertise to lead the engineering development of one or more subsystems
•    Support the project team(s) engineering in achieving project objectives, performance and cost requirements, and timing milestones
•    Lead external support, services and resources supporting the project testing
•    Support testing assigned to third parties and tiered partners
•    Confirm OEM and magna project performance targets and assure the targets are achievable
•    Confirm OEM and magna project cost and timing targets and assure the targets are achievable
•    Support the Project Manager (PM) and Technical Manager and contribute to the project resource planning, budget development, and status reporting 
•    Be responsible for the release of test and certification results into internal and external sites
•    Be responsible for the release of DVP simulations and studies into internal or external sites
•    Be responsible for completing and cataloging all the tests and results according to the DVP&R and format standards
•    Be responsible for auditing designs assessing the risk of meeting the project performance targets 
•    Be responsible for testing in accordance to regulations such as, FMVSS, ECE, CNCA/GB, ISO, etc.
•    Confirm the Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) comprehends all project targets and complete
•    Be responsible to assure the Design Failure Mode and Effects and Analysis (DFMEA) comprehends all the vehicle and subsystem test requirements and product usage cases

Additional Information

•    Education– BSME 
•    Experience - 10+years system level product validation
•    Experience in Complete Vehicle development and manufacture 
•    Experience supervising or managing technical personnel preferred
•    Excellent communication skills and experience working with global teams
•    Experience in testing and launching a complete vehicle preferred
•    Experience in testing components and assemblies
•    Experience with Non-live high voltage systems preferred
•    Experience in testing fasteners, threaded fasteners, riveted fasteners, and clip retainers preferred
•    Experience with Matlab/Simulink, dSpace, Labview, and model-based tools
•    CAN. LIN network experience preferred
