Role Summary

The Director, Investor Relations will have regular interface with multiple functional areas across Magna (Finance, Tax, Treasury, Corporate Development, Marketing, Communication, Legal, Human Resources, Research & Development and other Corporate or Operating Group Divisions).  This role will strengthen the department by managing the quarter end process. drafting public documents and investor messaging and meeting with investors.  The Director, Investor Relations will have the opportunity to work within a dynamic department with regular dialogue with the investment community.  This individual will be working with Magna Executives and Senior Management.      

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage quarter end process to support MD&A disclosure, board/audit meetings, and quarterly investor call
  • Draft and review public documents including press releases, MD&A, and Management letters
  • Draft investor messaging and investor presentations, including quarterly investor calls and events 
  • Compile Q&A development and provide updates
  • Prepare certain audit committee and board presentation slides
  • Responsible for Investor targeting and analysis
  • Conduct meetings with investors 
  • Responsible for Magna technology reviews to support messaging 
  • Conduct competitor/industry analysis and transcript reviews
  • Conduct outlook analysis and preparation
  • Enhance IR department through best practices
  • Gain understanding ESG reporting landscape and ongoing enhancement of Magna disclosure
  • Manage Magna IR website, including enhancements
  • Manage internal financial model
  • Review sell-side analyst models 
  • Conduct analysis and provide support in preparation for investor marketing/conferences
  • Responsible for Magna facility count management
  • Strategize business plan/outlook and provide support
  • Conduct daily review of analyst reports and market surveillance
  • Handle various analyses and provide support as needed

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration; Master's degree is a plus   
  • Professional designation (CPA, CFA) and/or capital markets experience preferred
  • 7-10+ years applicable experience; technical/software experience preferred 
  • Automotive industry knowledge is an asset



  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
  • Presentation creativity
  • Some technical knowledge (Engineering, Electronics) is an asset
  • Ability to learn and work in multiple financial information systems
  • Ability to exercise materiality and good judgement
  • Ability to manage priorities at busy times with minimal direction
  • Strong time management, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Project); High proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information with appropriate discretion
  • Ability to act with integrity in all aspects of the position

Additional Information

  • Ability to travel 25% - 50%
