Job Introduction

The Senior Manager will be responsible with supporting advanced strategy development for future technologies and products within the Corporate R&D group ‘Advanced Battery Systems’ by planning, organizing, executing, and coordinating R&D programs. You enjoy participating in a fast-paced, results-oriented team environment. Major Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or support the development of innovative components, modules and processes from the initial concept phase through the complete development process including design engineering, validation, prototyping, testing, and evaluation of the proposed production capable process.
  • Support the ideation process and identify gaps in the existing products and technologies to guide advanced strategy targets that are critical to Magna.
  • Support the implementation of the Corporate R&D organization to enable the growth strategy within Magna.
  • Develop, initiate, and manage the strategic initiatives with product groups and Magna executives.
  • Implement aligned job responsibilities and processes to enable a seamless collaboration with Corporate R&D and key parties.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Influence planning, organizing, supervising, and evaluating of the work of external staff(s) of engineers, scientists, and technicians; advise on staffing needs and the hiring process.

Knowledge/Education

  • Degree in a Engineering or related field (Master’s Degree or Ph.D preferred)
  • Comprehensive understanding about automotive technology

Work Experience

  • 7+ years of recent, in-depth, hands-on experience in a relevant field in the automotive industry
  • Experience managing a group of direct reports

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong spoken and written English language skills, additional languages skills desired
  • Ability to work in global team-based environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office incl. high level skills on PowerPoint and Excel
  • Excellent professional communication skills (written and verbal) and good presence

Work Environment

  • Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. Local and/or international travel may be required.
