Role Summary

The Specialist, Campus & Student Engagement reports to the Direct, Talent Attraction and Recruitment Marketing and is responsible for championing the Early Career and Student Engagement Program for Magna in Canada and the United States through the creation and evolution of a student engagement framework that can be leveraged globally. This role is highly collaborative, considers diverse perspectives, communicates effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, encourages innovation and applies project management techniques to deliver results for a multi-faceted program. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Help establish, implement and evolve the early career and student engagement strategy for Magna in North America leveraging a global framework and best practices 
  • Develop and manage external partnerships focused on youth and coordinate with Magna’s Corporate Social Responsibility team to deepen and amplify existing partnerships related to developing a pipeline of early-career STEM and skilled trades talent pipelines
  • Lead the planning and execution of a wide variety of campus events (on-campus, on-site and virtually)
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for educational institutions, on-campus career centers, student groups and associations, as well as internal stakeholders for matters relating to student engagement
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications to ensure Magna’s employer brand remains competitive both on-and-offline, as well as serving as an ‘employer brand ambassador’ internally and externally
  • Partner with Employee Resource Communities (ERCs), Research & Development, and Group HR leads to research, plan, and attend events to enhance Magna’s talent brand in the early career market
  • Maintaining accurate and well-organized documentation on all academic and organization agreements and early career recruiting activities; including the monitoring of levers in the agreements to ensure ROI
  • Support with event and engagement budget, branded item (swag) tracking and planning process

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in student engagement; direct campus recruiting or academic partnerships
  • Bachelor's degree, preferable in HR, Communications or a related field
  • Experience using social media outlets for recruitment, such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and Handshake
  • Flexibility with working hours which may include evenings and weekends to attend both virtual and on-campus events such as job fairs, information sessions, networking events (once appropriate to do so in relation to COVID-19 conditions)
  • Prior experience working with external organizations and / or campus recruitment in the automotive or technology industry is highly desirable
  • Effective communication, presentation and analytical skills to ensure operational alignment and high impact execution with measurable ROI.

Additional Information

  • Most of the role is performed in a standard office environment, with hybrid/flexible work arrangement available (subject to approval)
  • Travel approximately 25% of time
