Role Summary

In partnership with the Analytics team, IT Project Analysts, and Business Operations, the Senior Application Developer will bring applications which deliver process improvements and support a connected data strategy to life.  The Senior Application Developer will leverage Microsoft Technology such as the Power Platform and Azure to create tools that will be used regionally or globally, and across multiple functional areas of the business.  These applications are intended to replace current manual processes and provide data visibility and reporting to the business.  The Senior Application Developer will also provide guidance and mentorship to the Data Analytics team for best practice solutions regarding cloud architecture and other data management tools.

To be successful in this role, an in-depth working knowledge of Power Platform and Azure tools is required.  The Senior Application Developer will also participate in creating and supporting data strategy guidelines to support the long-term success of the business.  Additionally, this person will need to continually learn our business, and processes to support the delivery of well-developed and optimized applications. 

Key Responsibilities

Application Development

  • Collaborate with IT Project Analysts, Data Scientists, and Business Users to design application interfaces and process flows
  • Identify opportunities to optimize solutions to support best practice development principles
  • Create functional applications that meet the needs of business users
  • Support the enhancement of existing applications
  • Support testing, deployment and bug fixing

 

Operational Management

  • Create and maintain proper application documentation
  • Assist with the ongoing creation and documentation of the data architecture strategy.  Adhere to the strategy throughout application development
  • Establish a leadership role in the Power Platform development community, and support others along their development learning path
  • Guide the team in the identification of long term needs and risks as it relates to the data strategy or existing applications
  • Provide mentorship to other members of data analytics team on best practice processes for technology

  • Technical Skills – Database development (eg SQL, CDS), PowerApps, Power Automate, PowerBI, .Net Development,  Azure (eg Resource Groups, Data Factory, Data Lake, Delta Lake, Synapse, Data Bricks)
  • Data Visualization & Communication - Familiarity with data visualization tools including principles behind visually encoding data and communicating information. Power BI experience is preferred
  • Data Intuition - data-driven problem-solver with ability to interact with other department team members
  • Data science – Heavy exposure to advanced analytics (machine learning, AI, deep mining, statistics)
  • ERP Knowledge – Experience with ERP applications is a major benefit

  • Education/Skills/Special Knowledge – College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems or related technical field. Minimum of 5-7 years related work experience (including relevant internships).
  • Experience – Demonstrated knowledge of the organization’s core business process and operations.
  • Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to apply them to systems issues and products as required.
  • Demonstrated application development skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Cloud Architecture and Azure tools
  • Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives

 

Other:

  • Physical Demands/Work Environment – Office environment; up to 10% travel required.
  • While working in production environments, the colleague may be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes and various levels of temperature created by the manufacturing process
  • A normal amount of sitting, standing and walking. Average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. May require travel
