About the Role

Develop, implement and support efficient and capable manufacturing processes and associated systems, controls and procedures for all new or revised products within assigned areas of responsibility.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design processes and select tooling and equipment which meet requirements for process capability, production capacity, cost effectiveness and maintainability. Specify and implement any associated work holding fixtures, mistake-proofing provisions and material handling systems as required.
  • Determine the sequence of operations and distribution of work content for effective line balance and labour  loading per work cell. Rebalance labour allocation and process layout as required for production volume/mix changes or safety/ergonomic concerns. Identify any bottle-neck operations.
  • Determine the labour requirements for each new or revised process, preparing labour standards for each manned operation using the EASE or lowest repeatable methods. On an ongoing basis, audit the actual build process to ensure the labour standards are accurate.
  • Report to the Manager the existence of any hazards which could endanger himself, herself or any other         
  • worker.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety procedures and to the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Evaluate the manufacturability of new or revised product designs. Schedule Product Evaluation Run's (PER's) with production and other departments using the PER database. Interface with Chrysler and Novi Engineering to ensure that all deliverables are met.
  • Work with the Manufacturing Systems Software Specialist to specify and incorporate appropriate control systems, programming and automation as required for each process.
  • Conduct Process Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (PFMEA) and design into each process provisions which prevent the potential for manufacturing problems.
  • Coordinate the approval, procurement, installation and prove-out of process tooling and equipment.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to continuously improve process performance while reducing manufacturing cost. Streamline and simplify existing processes, work methods, material delivery and sequencing systems to eliminate non-value added (NVAA) activity.
  • Provide Manufacturing Engineering support to the Process Sign-Off (PSO) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) activities to ensure each process and associated documentation is ready for full production.
  • Prepare Operation Description Sheets (ODS) for the sequence of operations defined for each process and assist in training the production personnel accordingly. On an ongoing basis, audit the actual build process to ensure the proper methods are followed per the ODS.
  • Prepare Capital Expenditure Requests for new equipment, tooling or construction as required for new programs or facility upgrades. 
  • Assist with the evaluation and implementation of employee suggestions.
  • Assist with the development of and adherence to QMS and EMS procedures and documentation.
  • Participate in all safety training conducted by the company.
  • Keep current in world-class manufacturing technology, processes and alternative techniques in order to identify feasible applications for Integram.

Who we are looking for

5 years prior Manufacturing Engineering experience or equivalent, preferably acquired in the automotive industry. Experience preferred in the areas of high volume assembly, fixture design, torque monitoring and control, PLC’s and conveyor systems.  University degree or College diploma in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, Professional Engineering registration preferred.  Team approach to problem solving.  Strong  verbal and written communication skills.  Proven project and time management skills.  Computer literate, including proficiency in AutoCad, Word, Project and Excel. Good knowledge of JIT, QMS, Process Flow, World Class Manufacturing, PFMEA and Continuous Improvement.
