About the Role

Magna Advanced Automation (MAA) is an operating unit of Magna International, one of the world’s premier global automotive suppliers. We are establishing a manufacturing facility in Telford, Shropshire UK to design, build, commission and install assembly cells for both an internal and external customer base. 

The Advanced Process Engineer will develop assembly lines processes from part prints and preliminary layout of process. Responsible for conceptualising, defining, and working out how a particular product will be assembled-manufactured on a production line taking into account the customer requirements including quality, production rate and level of investment.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, while supporting Business Development Manager activities and the Project Managers to advise on process assembly capability / technology. Providing initial proposals to resolve customer requirements / issues.

Your Responsibilities

Within this role you will;

Envisage, develop, configure and optimise advanced manufacturing processes from inception through to start up and certification. You will evaluate manufacturing processes, identify opportunities to improve through put while developing effective automated and non-automated systems.

Test new and existing production procedures.

Assess processes, take measurements and interpret data. Developing best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output.

Perform process simulations, manage cost and time constraints, perform risk assessments and compile detailed process time studies.

Generate process documentation and operating instructions. Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends. Support the development and preparation of commercial and technical offers that complies with the customer´s request for manufacturing of products. 

Assess and validate incoming enquiries to identify our ability perform and come out with strategies to enhance the success of such offers. Support in responding effectively to customer requests for modifications and revalidations of issued offers.

Liaise with other departments to ensure technical aspects of customers’ requirements are met in the most cost-effective manner. Where necessary, attend resulting meetings for technical clarifications and commercial negotiations in respect of offers submitted.

Write simple reports and provide information to management.

Undertake special projects as required and any other duties as reasonably requested.

Who we are looking for

You are detail oriented, able to schedule and execute to plan. Have good organisational and interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Enjoy working collaboratively to achieve project and company goals. Have the ability to effectively communicate and build relationships.

Self-driven with a can do attitude, comfortable to work at pace to deliver solutions.

Effective communicator both written and verbal in English.

Eligibility to work in the UK and willing and able to travel to complete installation and commissioning at customer locations across Europe.

You will be experienced in process engineering with knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and tool design. Have strong manufacturing processing skills with minimum 5 years’ experience.

You will have experience in process simulations, a working knowledge of process engineering software packages, CAD or AutoCad skills and knowledge of industry 4.0 initiatives to optimise efficiency and productivity.

You have knowledge of product development, standard product used in assembly lines and quality assurance techniques.

Experienced with customer communication and able to support project Teams and provide Engineering expertise.

We expect that you are IT literate (Excel, Teams) and familiar with health and safety regulations.

Your preferred qualifications

You will be have an Engineering degree or equivalent.
