Role Summary
Reporting to the Maintenance & Facilities Manager the Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for the coordination and leadership of the maintenance team currently on shift. They will liaise with the production team leader to achieve manufacturing targets specifically around plant availability and PM completion.
Key Responsibilities
The role entails but is not limited to
- To ensure equipment availability is in line with departmental targets for shift
- Manage team holidays for Maintenance Technicians on shift in line with company policy and procedure, seeking guidance from Line Manager when required
- Ensure that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to ensure the smooth running of the facility
- To engage in Root cause analysis of repeat / major breakdowns and provide reports with suggested improvements
- To engineer out previous issues following a continuous improvement mind-set and methodology
- To facilitate the PM schedules and make recommendations for improvement delegating through their team to ensure KPI’s on compliance
- To support the internal customers with technical issues Inc. non-breakdown
- Complying with all corporate practice, procedures and policies in relation to Occupational Safety and Health administration rules (OSHA) while conducting maintenance processes
- Attend training when required and adhere to CCUK and Magna standards
- To apply 5S methodology in work area and wider factory
- Drive through Departmental and company goals/objectives
- Promote and set a positive example in a manner that reflects the Magna Employees Charter, Corporate Constitution and Divisions Mission, Vision, Objectives, Goals and Values
- Experience of Disciplinaries and Investigations
- Experience in PDR’s, PIP’s and Absence management
- To coach, mentor and undertake annual appraisals of team members
- To support management with ad-hoc projects as and when required
- Planning and organising work shifts for the timely completion of all maintenance activities
- Leading a team and delegating work functions to them
- Promote the companies HSE policies across the department and plant and adhere to all Health and Safety environmental requirements
- Organising job training activities for all team
Key Qualifications/Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience in a Maintenance function
- Time served apprentice in Mechanical or electrical Engineering
- Willingness to multi- skill
- Ability to delegate to skilled workers
- Report writing skills
- Experience in fault finding from hydraulic & pneumatic schematics
- Good Microsoft package ( especially: word, excel)
- To be able to communicate technical issues and conduct start of shift briefs
- 5’s experience
Desirable
- Qualification in both electrical & mechanical discipline
- Educated to HNC/HND in related discipline
- Experience within the Castings sector
- Health and Safety accreditation
- Experience of Tier 1 Automotive supply
- Previous experience leading a technical team

Plant conditions necessitate exposure to heat, cold, dust, hot objects, and loud noises within our manufacturing environment. Full Health and Safety training and PPE provided for all conditions.
