POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will function as a member of the test technician department and will be responsible for the rapid diagnosis and repair of test equipment, and board diagnosis. Under general direction of Supervisor, provides technical support to the production floor. Main priorities are to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems for any and all test systems. Perform PM of all supported equipment. Perform assigned projects ranging from simple program modifications to major rebuilds with mechanical, pneumatic and electronic work.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s degree in a technical discipline plus significant amount of related work experience; or completion of apprenticeship as electrical technician and five years’ experience which includes advanced electronics/programming; or equivalent.   
  • Demonstrated ability to read schematics, troubleshoots, update, and work on all equipment and products in designated area of responsibility.  Must have current knowledge of electronics and be able to apply it to the job.  A heavy emphasis on analysis and debugging of products and equipment.
  • PCAD skills required to update, read, and understand test systems and products.  General computer skills including use of Excel, Access, and Word. Visual Basic experiences a plus.
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills to communicate with internal and external contacts and work in a team environment.  Must be able to lead, train, and support other staff.
  • Flexible in schedule. Job can and/or will require significant amount of overtime in addition to working all or part of different shifts.
  • Work is complex and difficult in character and requires strong technical and electrical knowledge. 

 

DUTIES:

  • Production support, addressing all test equipment, product failure & board level concerns
  • Diagnosis of both product and equipment, including the logging defined by procedure or practice. 
  • Calibrations and preventative maintenance for test equipment
  • Provides technical support by monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing all complex electrical, electro-mechanical, automated, and robotics systems. 
  • Updates equipment, solves mechanical and electrical problems, and takes direction for proper repairs in support of the production floor.
  • Cross shift communication of daily issues/concerns
  • Participates in continuous improvement processes. 
  • May work on projects involving cost reduction, up-time improvement, or evaluation of new equipment, etc. 
  • Establishes new preventative maintenance procedures and periodically audits/updates existing procedures
  • Reviews potential training programs for skills improvement and conducts on-the-job training sessions to help improve others. 
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of the Maintenance Department.  Works independently on assigned projects that range from simple program modifications to major rebuilds that may have a mechanical, pneumatic, or and electronic scope.
