Mission of the Position

Responsible for the design and development of model-based functional software for eDrive Systems of the future for electric and hybrid vehicles. Working from broad specifications, not only performs, but is responsible for engineering activities such as developing model-based software in Matlab/Simulink for the Inverter module which will drive the motor of the eDrive system. Independently plans, designs, and carries out work assignments and often serves as a technical authority in the project team.

Key Responsibilities


  • Responsible for the model based functional software design/development and configuration to create or modify existing software in the inverter for eDrive Systems. Ensure a configurable, extendable/reusable eDrive controls software Platform is achieved. 
  • Modeling and controls development in Simulink and - design, develop and problem solve to create or modify existing power electronics controls systems and components for eDrive products.
  • Functional analysis and development. Work closely with the systems team to define features for the system.
  • Development of control algorithms for electric drives. 
  • Requirement-based development according to Automotive SPICE.
  • Innovative software development for future electric vehicles, research about new technologies specifically for traction inverters. 
  • Software creation in Matlab / Simulink / Stateflow. Using tools like Targetlink and Embedded coder for autocode generation. 
  • Adapting and calibrating existing models for costumer specific projects.
  • Responsible for participating or conducting research for new tools, best practices and alternative approaches to design optimal electrical components and develop software.

Requirements and Qualifications


  • Experience requirements vary based on each applicant and based on open positions.
  • Bachelor of Science in engineering required (Electrical, Software, Controls, Mechanical Engineering or similar preferred).
  • Experience with modeling tools e.g. Matlab / Simulink / Stateflow and automatic code generation (DSpace Targetlink, Embedded Coder) required. 
  • Experience with data logging and calibration tools (CANalyzer, CANape, CANoe) and Version Control systems (e.g. PTC Integrity, GIT, SVN) preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge in C,C++.  
  • Experience working on eDrive technology and/or BLDC motor control is strongly preferred.
  • Automotive industry experience strongly preferred.
  • High level of analytical ability, good understanding of engineering theory and principles of design.
  • Working knowledge in computer-based software, strong organizational/communication skills, and ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of Automotive SPICE and ISO26262 preferred.
  • Knowledge of AUTOSAR software architecture required.

Work Environment


Office Environment: up to 10% travel required. 

While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes, and various levels of temperature created by manufacturing processes.
