Mission of the Position

 

The CAD Engineer is responsible for the design of new, and modification of existing powertrain and driveline components that meet customer, system, and internal requirements and specifications.  The CAD engineer will work with a cross-functional team to ensure that all requirements are met, documentation is complete, and procedures are followed correctly.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Create 3D models and detailed 2D drawings, ensuring appropriate application of CAD methodology, GD&T standards, and process capable tolerancing techniques within company and customer standards.
  • Creation of component SOR documents where applicable
  • Follows change management and PLM procedures to ensure proper documentation of detailed design for prototype and production components.
  • Works with cross functional team to ensure design is robust, cost optimized, and meets customer, system, and internal requirements. 
  • Actively seeks to improve the quality and cost of our products, as well as efficiency of our processes and methods.
  • Develop and maintain a responsive and cooperative working relationship with internal and external customers.

Requirements and Qualifications

 

  • 3 – 5 years of related work experience in mechanical product design (3D CAD, 2D layouts, GD & T) required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required, major in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Automotive industry experience required.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge in 3D CAD, 2D drawings and GD&T for complex products required; experience with NX CAD Software is required.
  • Good understanding of typical manufacturing processes used in the production of powertrain components, especially casting and machining of housings.
  • High level of analytical ability understands of engineering theory and principles of design.
  • Working knowledge in computer based software, strong organizational/communication skills, and ability to work with others in a team environment.
     

Work Environment

 

Office environment; 10% travel required. 

 

While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes, and various levels of temperature created by manufacturing processes.
