About the Role

The Quality Director will be responsible for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Magna Exteriors Global Quality Management System that complies with customer and industry quality system requirements within the existing corporate culture. The Quality Director has a broad scope of responsibility in the quality arena with focused accountability in customer portal, internal data analysis and KPI achievement. They will display executive presence, lead by influence and demonstrate value add to the divisions by interacting by assisting, teaching thoroughly examining, and mentoring in root cause identification and permanent systemic corrective actions. As a member of the corporate quality team, the Quality Director will be an active participant in the development and execution of the quality department strategic plan and global collaboration.

Your Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with IATF and other certifications. Provide support as an escalation point for registrar and IAOB and other boards
  • Foster collaboration among stakeholders and align organizational and customer goals.
  • Address product quality issues with customers and ensure corrective actions are implemented. 
  • Support plants in resolving quality problems and provide on-site leadership.
  • Analyze data to identify risks and initiate improvement projects by developing and executing long-term progressive strategy to ensure the Quality function becomes increasingly proactive in addressing Magna Exteriors manufacturing plant performance issues.
  • Participate in quality audits and ensure global standards in plants.
  • Promote continuous improvement and reduce the cost of poor quality.
  • Oversee divisional quality organization structure and ensure adequate resources for training, onboarding, sharing best practices
  • Develop a proactive quality management strategy.
  • Lead regional Quality Manager meetings and best practice workshops; create and track Global Corrective Actions and Read across (GCAR) in a timely manner
  • Support new programs with QMS standards, APQP, change management, FMEA and participate in improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate and report quality metrics to indicate customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in Quality Leadership meetings to establish improvement short and long term plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Who we are looking for

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) undergraduate degree or equivalent in a technical discipline is required.
  • Strong proficiency in the Microsoft suite of tools such as Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point, Share Point, etc. Quick data analysis using excel and executive level presentations will be daily part of the role
  • 15+ years of experience in quality assurance roles, including experience as a Plant Quality Manager in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of automotive industry quality management standards (VDA, AIAG-APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, etc)
  • Self-starting, strong leader with excellent communication skills that have resulted in a successful track record of accomplishment that would “go see” the situation on the shop floor or in field as the situation demands and especially in crisis escalation or crisis situations.
  • Drive, intelligence, and high personal expectations of getting results both individually and as part of a team.
  • High level of interpersonal and leadership skills with capability to influence, coach, mentor, and partner across multiple levels of an organization.
  • Ability to lead by example, through influence and collaboration is essential.

Your preferred qualifications

  • Certification as a Quality Engineer, Quality Manager or Quality Auditor through ASQ or equivalent is preferred.
  • Six Sigma, Lean, Red X or statistical knowledge is desired
  • Experience managing multiple sites, product lines and customers is desired
