Position Summary

 

Works with the Software & Inverter Engineering eDrive Systems group assisting with projects on all different levels throughout the co-op program. The student will assist with the related software for the development for the power electronics.


Team Summary:


A dynamic team that pushes boundaries, innovates, and is passionate about being part of the transformation from traditional Powertrain to eMobility. The team works together to uphold a professional, team based collaborative project culture and standards. The Software & Inverter team includes Power Electronics Design Engineers, Application Software Engineers (functional software), and Motor Control Software Engineers (embedded software). The team of engineers are responsible for the detailed design and development of the power electronics (traction inverter) and related software, both functional/application and embedded software.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Contribute to the development of software for the eDrive architecture by understanding system requirements for the appropriate subsystem (software) from both external and internal sources.
  • Assist with Inverter requirements analysis and support software development through model based approach.
  • Create scripts to assist with automation tasks and support continuous process improvement.
  • Carry out competitor analysis of inverter solutions in the various transportation markets.
  • Expected Learning Outcomes:
    •  Contribute to the development of software for the eDrive architecture by understanding system requirements from both external and internal sources.
    •  Understand the automotive development cycle while interacting with multiple cross-functional teams.
    •  Software design and development understanding.
    •  Use of cutting-edge coding tools and learn model-based development for the automotive industry.
    •  Carry out competitor analysis (benchmarking) of inverter solutions in the various transportation markets.

Requirements and Qualifications

 

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Enrolled in an engineering program with an accredited school.
  • Preferably working towards or has a Bachelor of Science in the field of Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • Some knowledge and understanding of analytic ability and engineering theory and principles of design.
  • Ability to work with a fast aced team environment and perform assigned tasks related to the electrification of automobiles.

Work Environment

 

Office Environment. 


While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes and various levels of temperature created by manufacturing processes.
