Role Summary

Magna Steyr is looking for a talented team member with experience in overall vehicle architecture and its associated packaging requirements to meet vehicle design. This would be a passionate individual interested in being involved in developing the next level industry standard for vehicle architecture and production solutions. This position will be responsible to support the engineering lead positions within the design and development activities through the product development phases of concept, production design and engineering, product release, and manufacturing and assembly.  

Key Responsibilities

Technical Responsibility
Contribute to the Global Technical Area (GTA) strategy and growth of the engineering team
•    Support coordination of package zone meetings
•    Responsible to safeguard geometrical and legal layout requirements
•    Support packaging meetings and provide technical input 
•    Responsible to consolidate concept requirements model (technical input from complete vehicle package, design, and functional departments)
•    Responsible to perform package investigations, prepare package proposals, and induce solutions
•    Support alignment of complete vehicle package requirement with functional departments
•    Responsible to evaluate geometrical changes and change requests
•    Responsible for verification of geometrical coherence for release recommendation
•    Responsible to report and escalate package issues to the integration team leader and Zone lead

Project Planning, Target Achievement, Monitoring & Reporting 
Employ technical expertise to lead the engineering development of one or more subsystems 
•    Support the project team(s) engineering in achieving project objectives, performance and cost requirements, and timing milestones 
•    Lead external support, services and resources supporting the project engineering development 
•    Support work development packages assigned to third parties
•    Support the Technical Manager and contribute to the project resource planning, budget development, and status reporting  
•    Set appropriate actions to meet project requirements to achieve relevant gates/milestones
•    Responsible for continuous monitoring of work progress, timing, costs, quality
•    Provide regular reports to the line managers and project committees (CV/Technical meeting/task force meetings/etc.)
•    Identification of necessary training for team members
•    Ensure consistent application of MS / customer processes and standards 
•    Assign work scope to team members
•    Management & delegation of appropriate tasks
•    Preparation of minutes of meetings, technical reports, etc. 
•    Monitoring of the development progress according to the master timing charts
•    Execution of releases, changes and change requests
•    Monitoring of work results of members working in the same team
•    Verify design and detailed solutions as required

Project Related Interface 
Support and Promote Project and Operations Collaboration 
·    Participate in global development touchpoint and milestone meetings 
·    Collaborate with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) to assure production feasibility
·    Collaborate with the design studio to assure product appearance harmony
·    Collaborate with all cross functions to make complex decisions
·    Collaborate with the other project GTAs

Key Qualifications/Requirements

•    3 to 5 years’ relevant experience in design with an emphasis on full vehicle architecture and full vehicle system concept development
•    Education– Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering 

Additional Information

•    Expert Level Proficiency in CAD based applications (CATIA)
•    Proficient computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
•    Professional communication skills (written and verbal) 
•    Experience with packaging of ADAS sensor set (i.e., Radar, Lidar, USS, Cameras, etc.) preferred
