Mission of the Position:

Support the execution of Magna Powertrain Global Purchasing Process for Electrification as applicable to each program ensuring the synergies of the commodity strategies amongst all different customer applications in the purchasing group. Direct and coordinate all Purchasing Operation activities for Electrification between suppliers and all areas of organization i.e. Strategic Purchasing, Program Managers, Supplier Quality Development and/or other divisional designates.

Key Responsibilities:

 

•    Plan, organize, direct, and control activities related to the Electrification Purchasing Operations function with the objective of optimizing the total cost of purchases, while supporting strategic sourcing in selecting the optimal capable source to support the program in all areas. 
•    Electrification Purchasing lead for Customer Application within Core team.
•    Oversees all activities related to the Purchasing Operations process for Electrification as applicable to any specific program. 
•    Report to and align with Senior Manager Purchasing Operations Electrification Driveline Systems (DS).
•    Ensure alignment with the Purchasing DS NA organization for traditional products.
•    Generate, distribute and follow up on all RFQ’s, as per the Global Purchasing Process.
•    Analyze quotes from suppliers & costs from potential suppliers and prepare for management review.
•    Prepare all quote and detail data to analyze a make/buy divisional decision.
•    Assist in development of a strategic supply chain.
•    Assist in analysis of new trends in market & technology for Electrification.
•    Supports quote process to customer and works with Strategic Purchasing at early stage of Program definition.
•    Responsible to process design changes requests and be a part of the change management team until PPAP.
•    Report the supplier launch readiness to program management on a regular base.
•    Participate in simultaneous engineering meeting and forward status and open issues to purchasing team.
•    Organize Commercial and Technical workshops with suppliers in co-operation with Strategic Commodity Management and Supplier Quality Development.
•    Track the cost model for Purchased components and Materials as applicable.
•    Negotiates the best possible price.
•    Responsible for implementing Purchasing Operations process and procedures at multiple Divisions as applicable to new programs.
•    Maintain supplier relationships that are both productive and mutually beneficial while continually searching for and renegotiating cost savings.
•    Ensure suppliers respond appropriately to the program management requirements including issues of delivery, cost or quality up to PPAP.
•    Work cooperatively with peers to implement consistent policies, procedures, strategies, and reporting.
•    Communicate the necessary information to Magna Powertrain management to assist in decision making and strategy formulation.
•    Responsible for promoting and seeking excellence in all aspects of business.
•    Assigns the highest priority to customer satisfaction and Program Management objectives while meeting commitments to achieve business objectives.

Requirements and Qualifications:

 

•    Bachelor’s Degree required with a business or technical emphasis.
•    1 – 5 years of experience, relevant experience within the automotive industry preferred.
•    Minimum two (2) years of experience in Purchasing or related field within a manufacturing facility.
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office.
•    SAP ERP experience desired but not mandatory.
•    Intercultural communication skills and willingness to collaborate across regions. 
•    Strategic thinker and implementer of effective tactical plans.
•    Excellent skills and experience in contract negotiation and price negotiation in a manufacturing environment. 

Work Environment:

 

Approximately 10-15% domestic and/or international travel required. Valid Passport. 


While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes and various levels of temperature created by manufacturing processes.
