POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a position in the Product Engineering Business Office team providing support to the North American Driveline Systems engineering center. This includes working closely with the Mechanical Integration and Software/Electrical Project Managers, Finance, Product Line/Site Engineering Director, and Global Business Office team to manage quoting activities and coordinate budget and resource planning. Responsible for analyzing financial reports, project/resource planning, inputting budget, and interface between engineering and finance for local process or reporting. 

This job requires strong analytical and technical abilities and demonstrate fast, but carefully thought-out results.  Strong leadership and control of the work process from beginning to end is necessary.

ESSENTIAL TASKS, DUTIES, & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure released Engineering Quotes consider scope of work, cost and timing according to Approved Engineering Process.
  • Support Global Sr. Manager, Business Office for various analysis tasks and reporting preparation related to budget planning, project spending, and headcount planning.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through a series of key milestones on projects, simultaneously in a strong matrix organization. 
  • Drive engineering budget planning activities for the product line and ensure reporting accuracy.
  • Analyze and monitor engineering product line budget spending, resource planning and resource utilization.
  • Support monthly reconciliation of financial and project planning.
  • Administration of project quotes in the Global eQuote Database (enter, maintain, etc.)
  • Collect and organize information necessary for the creation of engineering quotes from Program Management, Customers and Engineering Organization
  • Coordinate and support quote Kick-off meetings
  • Create reports for cost calculations of the involved departments
  • Coordinate and support preparation of documents for engineering quote approval and release meetings
  • Coordinate and track quote timing
  • Create eQuote tracking list and KMI’s
  • Ensure use of reusable quote-modules to reduce effort and lead time of quotes. Identify cost saving opportunities, and/or streamlined processes for planning & quoting activities.
  • Coordinate and support discussion to clarify open items with the internal customer and project team
  • Organize and perform engineering quote review and approval meetings
  • Distribute released engineering quotes to Program Management
  • Provide input and participate in activities for Budget Planning & Forecasting for Product Engineering.
  • Practice and maintain integrity while following Magna’s Charter and Constitution.
  • Follow Magna’s Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies.
  • Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (IATF). 
  • Drive the development of new technologies to improve quality, efficiency and reduce cost.
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures to ensure duties of self are performed in a safe manner.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required (2-5 additional years of related technical experience in addition to experience referenced above). Technical / Engineering Degree is preferred.
  • Strong coordination skills for a large department required.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy of data/reporting required.
  • Strong communication skills, analytical thinking and negotiation skills as well as the ability to moderate meetings is required.
  • Strong product planning, development, and analytical skills
  • SAP or similar database experience preferred
  • Advanced excel skills strongly preferred
  • Must have the ability to balance multiple tasks and projects.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years of experience in financial management, business planning, engineering quoting or relevant experience required. 
  • 2+ years of experience in engineering required. Experience with powertrain systems preferred.
