About the Role

Magna Steyr is looking for a talented team member with experience in overall vehicle architecture and its associated packaging requirements to meet vehicle design. This would be a passionate individual interested in developing the next-level industry standard for vehicle architecture and production solutions. The Senior Engineer – CAD Design E/E will be responsible to support the engineering lead positions within the design and development activities through the product development phases of concept, production design and engineering, product release, and manufacturing and assembly. 

Your Responsibilities

Technical Responsibility
Contribute to the Global Technical Area (GTA) strategy and growth of the engineering team.
•    Support coordination of package zone meetings, support packaging meetings and provide technical input.
•    Responsible for safeguarding geometrical and legal layout requirements.
•    Responsible to consolidate concept requirements model (technical input from complete vehicle package, design, and functional departments)
•    Responsible for performing package investigations, preparing package proposals, and inducing solutions.
•    Responsible to incorporate CAD data from multiple parties and seamless integration in the Vehicle Architecture
•    Responsible to generate CAD modules from surrogate data or create envelops for all electrical modules
•    Responsible for packaging Electrical; Sensors, Relays, Cameras, Radars, Fuses etc.
•    Responsible for designing Brackets, Fasteners, and other retention mechanisms for all E/E components
•    Take ownership of CAD data for all E/E and ADAS components completion and release BOM
•    Support alignment of complete vehicle package requirement with functional departments
•    Responsible for evaluating geometrical changes and change requests.
•    Responsible for verification of geometrical coherence for release recommendation
•    Responsible for reporting and escalating package issues to the integration team leader and Zone lead.
•    Ability to work in a highly leveraged, cross functional internal and external team of designers and engineers
 

Who we are looking for

Project Planning, Target Achievement, Monitoring & Reporting 
Employ technical expertise to lead the engineering development of one or more subsystems. 
•    Support the project team(s) engineering in achieving project objectives, performance and cost requirements, and timing milestones 
•    Lead external support, services and resources supporting the project engineering development 
•    Support work development packages assigned to third parties
•    Support the Technical Manager and contribute to the project resource planning, budget development, and status reporting  
•    Set appropriate actions to meet project requirements to achieve relevant gates/milestones
•    Responsible for continuous monitoring of work progress, timing, costs, quality
•    Provide regular reports to the line managers and project committees (CV/Technical meeting/task force meetings/etc.)
•    Identification of necessary training for team members
•    Ensure consistent application of MS / customer processes and standards 
•    Assign work scope to team members, delegation of appropriate tasks
•    Execution of releases, changes and change requests.
•    Monitoring of work results of members working in the same team

Project Related Interface 
Support and Promote Project and Operations Collaboration 
·    Participate in global development touchpoint and milestone meetings 
·    Collaborate with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) to assure production feasibility
·    Collaborate with the design studio to assure product appearance harmony
·    Collaborate with all cross functions to make complex decisions
·    Collaborate with the other project GTAs

Employee Related Tasks
Ensure cooperation with all areas within the engineering and request the required frame conditions
·    Ensure cooperation with project management
·    Ensure cooperation with all other groups within the area
·    Secure knowledge of development tools within the group
·    Maintain training level according to the training plan and required skills
·    Cooperation with all Magna Steyr locations
·    Escalation problems at the earliest time with the appropriate team members

•    High level leadership qualities, excellent communication skill, good team player
•    10+ years’ relevant experience in design with an emphasis on full vehicle architecture and full vehicle system concept development
•    5+ years’ relevant experience in design with an emphasis on full vehicle architecture and full vehicle system concept development and Education– bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
•    Expert Level Proficiency in CAD based applications (CATIA V5/ V6)
•    Experience is GD&T preferred
•    Proficient computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
•    Professional communication skills (written and verbal) 
•    Experience with packaging of ADAS sensor set (i.e., Radar, Lidar, USS, Cameras, etc.) preferred
•    3D Wire harness routing experience is preferred, Electrical component packaging experience preferred
•    Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer
•    May require local, domestic, and international travel – less than 15% domestic + international.
