About the Role
Magna Steyr is looking for a talented team member with experience in vehicle homologation to guide overall vehicle design including systems and components. This would be a passionate individual interested in being involved in developing the next level industry standard for vehicle architecture and production solutions. This position will be responsible to support the engineering team within the design and development activities through the product development phases of concept, production design and engineering, product release, and manufacturing and assembly
Your Responsibilities
Technical Responsibility
Contribute to the Global Technical Area (GTA) strategy and growth by supporting the Lead Engineering roles and the whole engineering team in areas such as:
• Responsible to define regulation requirements according to intended market and model year
• Support engineering team with clear interpretation of regulations
• Responsible to create and execute homologation test matrix, including liaison with customer and test facilities
• Support as liaison of communication between engineering and customer for technical advisory on regulations requirements
• Support documentation preparation for certification and/or guidance to engineering team
• Support NHTSA forums for regulations assessment and first hand guidance to engineering teams with trend of upcoming regulations
• Support engineering team to drive decisions based on regulatory requirements
• Responsible to create roadmap for certification
• Support DVP&R creation (complete vehicle, systems, and component level)
• Responsible to maintain regulation matrix as required upon approval of new regulations (FMVSS, ECE, GB, etc.)
• Responsible to perform homologation tests and witness with regulatory bodies
Who we are looking for
Project Planning, Target Achievement, Monitoring & Reporting
Employ knowledge and technical experience to support the engineering development of one or more subsystems
• Support the project team(s) engineering in achieving project objectives, performance and cost requirements, and timing milestones
• Lead external support, services and resources supporting the project engineering development
• Support work development packages assigned to third parties
• Support the Technical Manager and contribute to the project resource planning, budget development, and status reporting
• Set appropriate actions to meet project requirements to achieve relevant gates/milestones
• Continuous monitoring of work progress, timing, costs, quality
• Provide regular reports to the line managers and project committees (CV/Technical meeting/task force meetings/etc.)
• Identification of necessary training for team members
• Ensure consistent application of MS / customer processes and standards
• Assign work scope to team members
Project Related Interface
Support and Promote Project and Operations Collaboration
• Participate in global development touchpoint and milestone meetings
• Collaborate with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) to assure production feasibility
• Collaborate with the design studio to assure product appearance harmony
• Collaborate with all cross functions to make complex decisions
• Collaborate with the other project GTAs
Employee Related Tasks
Ensure cooperation with all areas within the engineering and request the required frame conditions
• Ensure cooperation with project management
• Ensure cooperation with all other groups within the area
• Secure knowledge of development tools within the group
• Maintain training level according to the training plan and required skills
• Cooperation with all Magna Steyr locations
• Escalation problems at the earliest time with the appropriate team members
Your preferred qualifications

• Must have a positive “can do” attitude

• Should be team oriented with a focus on striving for the best solutions for the group as a whole
• 5 to 10 years’ relevant experience as homologation specialist
• Education– Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
• Familiar with BOM and product development process
• Experience with worldwide Safety/Impact, Chassis, and Electrical regulations
• Experience guiding engineering teams towards complete vehicle certification throughout development, and official homologation process
• Proficient Computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
• Computer knowledge and skills in CAD and CAE simulation preferred
• Six Sigma certification preferred
• Professional Communication skills (written and verbal)
• Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer
• May require local, domestic, and international travel – less than 15% domestic + international
