About the Role

Magna Steyr is looking for talented and experienced team members in complete vehicle development who are determined and passionate about developing the next level industry standard for vehicle architectures and production solutions.   Within this development process the Senior Engineer - Styling Convergence is responsible to assure all the technical requirements are incorporated and correctly implemented in the styling creation process.  This position has a high level of responsibility and visibility and will interface with the customer, Magna divisions and global module group teams.   

Your Responsibilities

Technical Responsibility
Contribute to the Global Technical Area (GTA) strategy and growth of the engineering team
•    Support Technical Area (TA) core competencies growth as required by Technical Manager
•    Support and contribute to knowledge base of internal and external best practices
•    Support the creation of surfaces (C-, B-, A-class) and styling timeline according to the master timing chart
•    Lead the coordination and define visualisation and cubing scopes of work inclusive data status and releases based on styling requirements (exterior / interior)
•    Lead target setting for step/gap in agreement with styling and tolerance management
•    Lead problem solving for target deviations and conflicts
•    Assure proper communication between styling and technical engineering team
•    Support target achievement (Target verification via determination and implementation of measures)
•    Support complex problem solving with cross functional teams
•    Transfer of experience / Lessons learned within team
 

Who we are looking for

Project Planning, Target Achievement, Monitoring & Reporting
Employ technical expertise to lead the engineering development of one or more subsystems
•    Support the project team(s) engineering in achieving project objectives, performance and cost requirements, and timing milestones
•    Confirm customer and magna project performance targets and assure the targets are achievable
•    Confirm customer and magna project cost and timing targets and assure the targets are achievable
•    Support the Project Manager (PM) and Technical Manager and contribute to the project resource planning, budget development, and status reporting 
•    Responsibility for technical supervision, management and results of STC scope of work
•    Implementation of styling and technical requirements
•    Acceptance of styling data control model (hardware and 3D renderings) for production tool release
•    Timely escalation of potential target deviations
•    Identification of opportunities and risks
•    Facilitate interdisciplinary agreements: lead and participate in relevant STC meetings
•    Ensure conformance to internal and external requirements / directives
•    Responsible for documentation and reporting within STC scope of work

Project Related Interface 
Support and Promote Project and Operations Collaboration 
•    With the request of manager or group leader, to execute & fulfill vehicle architecture responsibility independently 
•    Collaborate with the Product Development team to assure deliverables and timing 
•    Support Vehicle Architect and Technical Manager with technical input to make complex decisions
•    Collaborate with the Technical Manager to guide team on usage/creation of best practices.
•    Collaborate with the other project GTAs
  
Employee Related Tasks
Ensure cooperation with all areas within the engineering and request the required frame conditions
•    Ensure cooperation with project management and Technical Manager
•    Ensure cooperation with all other groups within the area
•    Ensure training of employees according to the required skills
•    Cooperation with all Magna Steyr locations
•    Escalation problems at the earliest time with the appropriate team members

•    Must have a positive “can do” attitude
•    Must be flexible and able to course correct paths according to priority alignment
•    Education– BSME 
•    Experience - 5+years vehicle architecture
•    Experience - 3+years styling convergence (studio engineer support)
•    Experience in Complete Vehicle development
•    Experience supervising or managing technical personnel preferred
•    Excellent communication skills and experience working with global teams
•    Experience working with cross functional teams from engineering and vehicle integration. Experience in using 3D CAD systems such as Catia V5 or Unigraphics 
•    Experience in using RAMSIS and CAVA preferred
•    Experience in ICEM Surf or similar software preferred
•    Proficient Computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
•    Computer knowledge and skills CAE simulation preferred
•    Good knowledge across engineering groups and integration functions
•    Professional Communication skills (English - written and verbal) 
•    Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer
•    May require local, domestic and international travel – less than 15% domestic + international
