Role Summary
Magna Steyr is looking for a talented team member with experience in overall vehicle mass book creation and steering the engineering team for compliance with vehicle design. This would be a passionate individual interested in being involved in developing the next level industry standard for vehicle architecture and production solutions. This position will be responsible to support the engineering lead positions within the design and development activities through the product development phases of concept, production design and engineering, product release, and manufacturing and assembly.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Responsibility
Contribute to the Global Technical Area (GTA) strategy and growth of the engineering team
• Responsible for Complete Vehicle mass target setting and breakdown into module targets
• Responsible for Mass book creation with key emphasis on:
o Vehicle mass
o Inertia weight class
o Payload
o Trailer towing
• Responsible for calculation of weight distribution, inertia weight class and COG
• Responsible for Controlling and monitoring of targets compliance during virtual and physical development
• Support the target compliance via determination and implementation of measures
• Responsible to steer of workshops for materials and design concepts analysis aimed to balance mass requirements
• Lead steering structure efficiency analysis with aid of FEA tools and module teams
• Responsible for mass input for all virtual development work according to BOM maturity and product development phase
Project Planning, Target Achievement, Monitoring & Reporting
Employ knowledge and technical expertise to support the engineering development of one or more subsystems
• Support the project team(s) engineering in achieving project objectives, performance and cost requirements, and timing milestones
• Lead external support, services and resources supporting the project engineering development
• Support work development packages assigned to third parties
• Support the Technical Manager and contribute to the project resource planning, budget development, and status reporting
• Set appropriate actions to meet project requirements to achieve relevant gates/milestones
• Project-related resource planning
• Continuous monitoring of work progress, timing, costs, quality
• Provide regular reports to the line managers and project committees (CV/Technical meeting/task force meetings/etc.)
• Management of larger project teams on work content level
• Identification of necessary training for team members
• Ensure consistent application of MS / customer processes and standards
• Assign work scope to team members
• Management & delegation of appropriate tasks
Project Related Interface
Support and Promote Project and Operations Collaboration
· Participate in global development touchpoint and milestone meetings
· Collaborate with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) to assure production feasibility
· Collaborate with all cross functions to make complex decisions
· Collaborate with the other project GTAs
Employee Related Tasks
Ensure cooperation with all areas within the engineering and request the required frame conditions
• Ensure cooperation with project management
• Ensure cooperation with all other groups within the area
• Secure knowledge of development tools within the group
• Maintain training level according to the training plan and required skills
• Cooperation with all Magna Steyr locations
• Escalation problems at the earliest time with the appropriate team members
Key Qualifications/Requirements

• 5 to 10 years’ relevant experience of weight management and target setup
• Education– Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Familiar with BOM and product development process
• Experience of mass development and target setup
• Experience/Knowledge of EV system development and BOM
• Experience with light weight materials
Additional Information
• Proficiency in CAD based applications (CATIA)
• Proficient Computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
• Professional Communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong ability to analyze large amounts of data, well EXCEL ability is preferred
• Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer
• May require local, domestic, and international travel – less than 15% domestic + international
