About the Role
Magna Steyr is looking for a talented team member with experience in Product Quality that will enable the individual to monitoring quality through all stages of development thereby ensuring adherence to program and industry standards. This would be a passionate individual interested in being involved in developing the next level industry standard for vehicle architecture and production solutions. The position will be responsible to support the Senior Engineering Lead positions within the Magna Steyr North American vehicle engineering activity with a focus on overseeing system, sub-system, and component quality as it relates to fit, form, and functionality as defined by the product technical specifications in support of all program phases (i.e.: concept, production design and engineering, product release, manufacturing, and assembly, etc.).
Your Responsibilities
Technical Responsibility
Contribute to the Global Technical Area (GTA) strategy and growth by supporting the Lead Engineering roles and the whole engineering team in areas such as:
• Proactive participation and support in APQP documentation creation and maintenance (DVP&R, DFMEA, Etc.)
• Proactive participation in sourcing documentation definition and development
• Create work products required for quality assurance such a QA Plan, QA Schedule, Quality Status Reports, Risk Management Plan, and Inspection Fixture Log
• Plan and moderate reviews with engineering development team for work products
• Perform risk management assessments through various phases of product development
• Create and maintain review database for part, subsystem, and vehicle audits, dimensional, appearance or functional
• Review and ensure end to end traceability across various phases of development life cycle
• Organizing and contributing to delivery of work deliverables including functional safety at key quality gate reviews
• Review deliverables to ensure ASPICE and/or CMMI compliance
• Continuously improve QA process by enhancing requirements and process metrics based on lessons learned
• Co-ordinating of ASPICE/CMMi gap analysis, reviews, and assessments with the process team
• Provide regular updates on assignment progress as it relates to program goals and objectives and key project requirements (KPI’s)
• Support and contribute to knowledge base of internal and external best practices
• Participate in benchmarking studies and contribute to the benchmark knowledgebase
• Stay current with industry standards and practices and identify potential areas of continuous Improvement to the team and group leads
• Read across production capability data to the GTA’s and confirm Dimensional Engineering inclusion of data
• Determine component and assembly inspection fixtures comprehend the drawing information and Magna standards
Who we are looking for
Project Planning, Target Achievement, Monitoring & Reporting
Employ knowledge and technical experience to support the engineering development of one or more subsystems
• Support the project team(s) engineering in achieving project objectives, performance and cost requirements, and timing milestones
• Assist and lead, when assigned, with external support services and resources involved with the project engineering development
• Support work development packages assigned to third parties
• Support the project senior engineering personnel in meeting program deliverables including, but not limited to, product definition, component design and release, validation, supplier support, launch support, etc.
Project Related Interface
Support and promote project and operations collaboration
• Participate in global development touchpoint and milestone meetings
• Collaborate with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) to assure production feasibility
• Collaborate with the design studio to assure product appearance harmony
• Collaborate with all cross functions to make complex decisions
• Collaborate with the other project GTAs
Employee Related Tasks
Ensure cooperation with all areas within the engineering and request the required frame conditions
• Ensure cooperation with project management
• Ensure cooperation with all other groups within the area
• Secure knowledge of development tools within the group
• Maintain training level according to the training plan and required skills
• Cooperation with all Magna Steyr locations
• Escalation problems at the earliest time with the appropriate team members
• Maintain regular and consistent attendance

• Education– Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (Master’s Degree Preferred)
• At least 8+ years of working experience in Automotive Quality
• Knowledge of industry quality specifications and test management techniques within the automotive industry is a plus
• Ability to perform 8-D, 5-Why, Fishbone analysis, FaultTreeAnalysis
• Knowledge of DFMEA/PFMEA development process
• Proficient computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
• Computer knowledge and skills in CAD and CAE simulation preferred
• Six Sigma certification
• Professional communication skills (written and verbal)
• Experience with End of Line testing for components and assemblies
• Experience in EV system assembly and handling preferred
• Experience in ISO 26262 / ASIL Risk Class, ASPICE
• Familiar with CMMI
• Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer
• May require local, domestic, and international travel – less than 15% domestic + international
