About the Role

This position will be responsible for design, implement, and debug a highly efficient and robust software platform in the robotics system. The main responsibilities of the position will include, but not limited to:

 

1.Software Development & Optimization:

Develop and maintain modular software components that run across different hardware. Ensure that these components are optimized for data flow and communication efficiency.

 

2.System Integration:

Integrate various system components and ensure they work cohesively on the Linux operating system and DDS-based middleware. Address compatibility issues and work towards seamless system integration.

 

3.Pipeline Construction:

Build and maintain pipelines between different software modules and hardware, ensuring efficient data transfer and operation.

 

4.Linux Expertise:

Demonstrate deep knowledge in Linux, including working with Linux kernels and libraries. Optimize system performance on the Linux platform.

 

5.Technical Troubleshooting:

Identify and resolve system-level issues related to communications and data flow. Ensure the robustness and reliability of platform software solutions.

 

The Sr. Research Engineer will plan execute and coordinate New Mobility programs for/with internal and external departments, (supplier) companies, institutions and academia.

Your Responsibilities

  • Evaluation of technologies and product designs with compliance to scientific principles, engineering principles, company standards, customer requirements and related specifications
  • Support the development of innovative components and modules from the initial concept phase through the complete development process including design engineering, validation, prototyping, testing, and evaluation of the proposed production capable process and business case
  • Design and conduct research programs; applying theory and principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, electronics, heat transfer and materials
  • Contribute to team effort by providing innovative ideas for products and processes and by sharing new information with other team members
  • Support the ideation process while identifying gaps in the current product or manufacturing technology to guide and provide future R&D efforts
  • Analyze engineering results and propose product changes to determine feasibility, improvement of components and systems and functional/performance specifications
  • Correlate experimental data to simulation data
  • Maintain innovation project schedule by monitoring project progress, co-coordinate activities, calculating time requirements, sequencing project elements and resolving problems
  • Specify requests and coordinate all sub-contracted work (i.e. S/W development, prototyping, validation, testing) and assures timely completion
  • Confer with other project engineers to clarify or resolve problems and develop designs
  • Maintain proper filing systems to ensure all information, (electronic or hard copy), are stored according to departments requirements
  • Provide engineering support to other departments within the company as directed by the department leader
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks
  • Responsible for keeping the organization abreast of developments in his/her R&D programs.
  • Interpret technical specifications from OEMS

Who we are looking for

  • Strong background in software development for system integration and data flow optimization
  • Hands-on experience with Linux, Linux driver, Linux kernel, Docker, Containers
  • Hands-on experience with DDS middleware and its application in system integration
  • Hands-on Experience with robotics middleware such as ROS, ROS2
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex software and hardware interactions
  • Preferred experience in SW integration specifically in Mobile Robotics or Autonomous Driving field

Your preferred qualifications

  • Master's or higher degree in Engineering including but not limited to: Computer Science, Robotics, or related field.
  • Extensive experience with Linux operating systems, particularly in configuring, customizing, and optimizing Linux environments.
  • Profound knowledge of Linux kernels, including kernel programming, debugging, and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with DDS middleware, specifically in setting up, configuring, and optimizing DDS environments for high-performance and scalable systems.
  • Familiarity with DDS concepts like QoS, real-time data exchange, and fault tolerance mechanisms.
  • Strong background in software engineering, with a focus on developing modular and scalable software components.
  • Expertise in programming languages relevant to system-level software development, such as C, C++, and Python.
  • Skills in optimizing data flow and communication channels between different system components.
  • Understanding of network protocols, serial and parallel data transmission, and optimization techniques for reducing latency and increasing throughput.
  • Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.  Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus
