Role Summary

Supplier Integration Engineers are integrated partners with the OEM Customer team, responsible for coordinating design and execution at the component level, beginning at Sourcing, and through product launch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site support to the customer as a representative of Magna.
  • Work on-site with the OEM’s Design Studio to discuss open concerns.
  • Coordinate and lead studio meetings and track customer deliverables.
  • Set up and lead PDT meetings at the customers location to review open items, including tracking of cost, mass, etc.
  • Create peer review presentations and lead peer review discussion.
  • Integrate components into lighting sub system.
  • Coordinate with other tier 1 suppliers, as needed.
  • Lead and input information into PRTS system for all manufacturing and launch issues.
  • Write change request in the customers system and coordinate change management activities between the customer and Magna.
  • Support product launch activities at the OEM customer production plant.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge with respect to legal requirements of lighting.
  • Utilize internal tool kit of benchmarking, best practices, proof of concept planning and testing, and manufacturing reviews to enhance reliability of products being designed.
  • Understand and apply principles of strength of materials and thermodynamics, when and where necessary.
  • All other duties, as assigned.
     

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline, or technical diploma with equivalent experience.
  • Five to ten years in a manufacturing environment, preferably exterior lighting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively with internal team and members of our operations, both verbally and in written form.
  • Able to communicate OEM customer direction with direct team members, such as design, program management, and purchasing.
  • Ability to solve problems and facilitate solutions.
  • Microsoft computer application experience including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Able to work on-site at OEM customer location, as required.
     

Additional Information

  • Possess a strong understanding of core engineering tools, root cause analysis, and practical problem solving.
  • Proven track record in performance and attendance in current position.
  • Experience with and understanding of GM Product Development Plan (PDP) highly desired.
  • Understand design criteria in terms of lamp function (thermal, structure, venting/sealing, manufacturing, and assembly), lamp style and aesthetics, and lamp cost.
  • Keeps abreast of technological developments/advancements and styling trends, using media, peer discussions and trade shows.
  • Can direct design in terms of geometric integrity and material selection.
  • Functional work experience in Product Development with Unigraphics, IDeas, CATIA or ProEng.
  • Understanding of dimensional data.
  • Aptitude for working with numbers with a high degree of accuracy.
     

Physical Demands – Normal amount of sitting and standing; Ability to move around an office environment and on the production floor; Ability to work at a computer workstation; Ability to bend, twist, lift, reach. Required to carry out job duties and responsibilities in a work environment that may include, but is not limited to, varying levels of noise and/or temperature. Ability to lift max. 50lbs periodically.
