The Software Architect is responsible for selecting, defining and creating and communicating the software architecture of the embedded software that is compliant with the system architecture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Development (design, implement, test and debug) of core and/or application specific software requirements for automotive embedded electronic module serial production projects.
  • Requirements Management Tools DOORs and Polarion.
  • Software Development process activities according to ASPICE.
  • FMEA methods and tools, DVP&R, DFM/DFA, VA/VE, Etc.
  • Experience using different tools like Debuggers, Vector tools, Logic Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Etc.
  • Develop software in compliance with a formal ASPICE/CMMi based standards as well as company Development process. 
  • Support other functional disciplines with all aspects related to System and Software architecture.
  • Perform complex work assignments requiring independent problem solving and decision making, requiring strong software technical competency
  • Work assignments primarily involve senior/advanced level work and may mentor other software engineers. 
  • Lead the planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting of all software related activities for various projects.
  • Coordination of integration of Supplier, Application and/or 3rd party software such as CAN NOS into an application specific software ECU.
  • Make sure that the architecture is not only the right one for operation, but also for deployment and sustainability with the complexity scaled / minimized as it needs to be in order to meet the system requirements and system architecture.
  • RADAR System experience – FMCW, Range/Speed Resolution, Doppler mapping, AoA, Noise mitigation, Multipath cancelation techniques, Clutter removal, Optimization for Range and performance, Etc.
  • RADAR Signal Processing and Algorithm experience – FFT, Digital Filters, CFAR, Object Detection, Clustering, Tracking, Classification, Etc.
  • RF / Antenna expertise – MIMO, Beamforming, FoV, Etc.
  • RF Regulatory and Legislation experience.
  • CST Modeling and Simulation experience, at Component and System levels.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • Masters’ degree in computer science, software engineering, Physics / Microwave or equivalent
  • 8+ years’ relevant experience regarding the responsibility/ activities (listed above) for automotive electronics serial development projects (mandatory)
  • Must have excellent Communication and Presentation skills
  • Familiar with Automotive Software Development Processes
  • Extensive leadership experience
Additional Information
  • The Position is located in our Troy, Michigan office or our Newmarket, Ontario office 
  • Some travel may be required to Customer Manufacturing and other Magna locations (in US, Mexico, China, Europe and Canada)
