About the Role

Your Responsibilities

Technical Manager, Complete Vehicle wanted in Troy, Michigan to contribute to the Global Technical Area (GTA) strategy and lead in the capability growth of the engineering team, including: Support and develop Technical Area (TA) core competencies; Support and contribute to knowledge base of internal and external best practices; Lead benchmarking studies and contribute to the benchmark knowledgebase; Propose and lead advanced development topics within the GTA; Propose continuous improvement opportunities to level up team skills, qualifications, tools and processes; Lead design proposals with set-based engineering principles; Lead designs with 6 Sigma design principles; Lead complex problem solving with cross functional teams; Lead new project opportunities with Technical RASIC, preliminary target road map and preliminary feature list; Employ technical expertise to lead the engineering development of one or more projects, including: Lead the establishment of the complete vehicle targets and features integrating the customer requirements, customer wants, market profiles, practical use cases, and Magna Steyr best practices ; Lead the organization of vehicle level testing including ride and drive events for durability and ride quality. Lead the vehicle level Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) including the consolidation of the module group subsystem DVP&Rs into a vehicle level DVP&R Lead in the execution of the vehicle validation and success in meeting the vehicle level requirements; Lead and support the project team(s) engineering in achieving project objectives, performance and cost requirements, and timing milestones; Lead external support, services and resources supporting the project engineering development; Be responsible for work development packages assigned to third parties; Confirm OEM and magna project performance targets and assure the targets are achievable; Confirm OEM and magna project cost and timing targets and assure the targets are achievable; Support the Project Manager (PM) and contribute to the project resource planning, budget development, and status reporting; Be responsible for the functional release of the project modules and systems according to the project milestones; Be responsible for designs capable of meeting the serial production tact, First Time Quality (FTQ) and ergo targets; Be responsible for designs meeting the project performance and cost targets; Be responsible for designs meeting market region regulations, FMVSS, ECE, CNCA/GB, etc.; Confirm the Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) comprehends all project targets and is complete; Confirm the project Design Failure Mode and Effects and Analysis (DFMEA) comprehends all product risks and product usage cases; Manage project TA according to the agreed head count, budget, and outside service or support plan; manage engineering programs for complete vehicle performance attributes including drive systems, body systems, EE systems integration, energy systems, EE release management and ADAS functions; manage complete vehicle functional safety systems and FOPD (Function Oriented Product Development); MSDS product development processes; local/dynamic loads definition and road load data to drive structure development; and modular platform development including architecture layout/PWT/underbody.

Your preferred qualifications

Requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and 24 months of related experience as a Technical Manager, Chief Engineer, Technical Head of Complete Vehicle and Prototype Shop or Technical Integration Lead. The related experience must include managing engineering programs for complete vehicle performance attributes including drive systems, body systems, EE systems integration, energy systems, EE release management and ADAS functions; managing complete vehicle functional safety systems and FOPD (Function Oriented Product Development); MSDS product development processes; local/dynamic loads definition and road load data to drive structure development; and modular platform development including architecture layout/PWT/underbody. 40 hours per week; 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., M-F; $155,000.00 per year.
