Mission of the Position


The Warranty Systems Engineer will interact with the different disciplines within the Magna Powertrain Driveline business to identify and drive effective root cause, corrective action, and preventive actions.

Key Responsibilities


  • Primary interface between Customer and Driveline Business Units, (Provide Customer’s view to the internal organization). 
  • Lead Driveline business to identify and implement corrective actions (Coordination of meetings within the Driveline BUs). 
  • Ensure a timely and proper content response to customer’s warranty portal with 8D technical analysis from warranty returns. Work with Driveline plants and driveline disciplines like design Supplier quality to resolve roadblocks, improve warranty response system. 
  • Prepare warranty data presentations for the customer and Driveline Business units as necessary. 
  • Participation in Customer meetings as necessary to provide warranty input. 
  • Track and verify analysis status of 8D or problem-solving documents from various sources (Supplier, Plant and Engineering). 
  • Lead activities to reduce No trouble found and customer concern not duplicated returns. 
  • Ensure proper and continuous communication within the different Magna Powertrain Driveline regions (Europe, Asia, and South America) to share lessons learned.

Customers and Business Interfaces


  • Interface with warranty analysts and warranty technicians for warranty data and warranty return teardown information. 
  • Interface with Troy/Ramos Engineering teams for technical support for problem solving/testing. 
  • Interface with Driveline Manufacturing teams for technical support for problem solving/testing. 
  • Interface with Troy/Ramos Supplier Quality teams for technical support for problem solving/testing. 
  • Attend Customer PDT/Engineering meetings and Warranty reviews.

Requirements and Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
  • 1-5 years of experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to use problem solving tools like 8D’s 5whys, fishbone etc.
  • Ability to interpret warranty data from various customers.
  • Ability to predict and project data based on available sample data.
  • Ability to use Minitab and MS office is a plus.
  • RedX or 6 sigma Black belt certification preferred.
  • Strong communication skills – oral, written, and interpersonal.
  • Ability to multi-task and respond to customer needs at a moment’s notice.

Work Environment


20% travel required. 

While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes, and various levels of temperature created by manufacturing processes.
