Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have completed an apprenticeship program for Machinist or equivalent experience
- Machinist Certificate of Qualification considered an asset
- Three (3) years experience working in a Machinist or Technician capacity performing CNC Programming and Set-up in a manufacturing environment (Automotive Industry preferably)
- Excellent knowledge of CNC Programming and CNC machine controls i.e. tool offsets/changes, program changeovers
- Excellent knowledge of hand tools and assembly processes
- Excellent knowledge of measuring equipment, SPC, and safety legislation
- Advanced knowledge of machining and proven experience in prototyping and blueprint reading
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English both written and spoken
- Must demonstrate creativity, initiative and problem solving skills
- Must be available to work weekends as required
- Must be flexible in respect to hours of work
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop CNC Programs both manually and by using software to ensure efficient, cost effective machining of parts.
- Set-up, adjust and troubleshoots CNC machines to ensure that parts are produced according to MSM quality requirements
- Participate in team problem solving and preventative/corrective action as required
- Coordinate with Flow Forming, Maintenance, Tool & Die, Q.A. and Engineering personnel to work on sample parts and on continuous improvement projects as required.
- Perform tooling preventative maintenance as required.
- Exchange work knowledge and provides training for members of the CNC/Set-up department
- Train and assist CNC operators in insert changes and minor offset adjustments
- Ensure that all set-ups and repairs are done in a manner that will ensure the Company’s objectives with respect to minimizing downtime, scrap and tooling cost are met
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping at all times
- Ensure that all safety precautions and procedures are followed and work within the guidelines and rules of the plant
- To produce parts to close tolerance, specifications and punctually to ensure high productivity and part quality
- Report any non-conformance to the Production Manager
- Report to your supervisor and team leader to determine priority and any other problems that would affect the smooth operation of the department
- Recommend changes to continuously improve tooling and processes
- Perform other assignments from time to time as Department Manager and/or his designees so direct
- Observe standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act as well as rules and regulations outlined in the employee handbook.
