JOB OVERVIEW

Performs accounting functions consisting of inventory and labour hour maintenance and month end close responsibilities.

FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS

•    Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting; MBA or CPA, CMA designation
•    Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment
•    Proficiency in Excel and Power BI
•    Technical skills in account reconciliation; cost analysis and month-end close responsibilities, etc.
•    Problem analysis and problem resolution

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Determines cost of operations by establishing standard costs; collecting operational data
•    Guides cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; providing trends and forecasts; explaining processes and techniques; recommending actions
•    Leads monthly close process
•    Oversight of all general ledger and income statement activity within ERP system.
•    Enters monthly inventory and COGS
•    Manages standard cost system
•    Conducts product line analysis for management review
•    Control of tool manufacturing costs charged by contract manufacturers
•    Data systems maintenance (computer-based cost accounting) concerned with raw material/intermediates consumption, cost of material transport, import duty, etc.
•    Consolidation of fixed and variable costs
•    Control of operating cost budget; analysis of variance between budget and actual results
•    Performs analysis for production part costs for new programs and maintain tracking of these costs throughout the program as well as initiate plans for potential cost reductions
•    Prepare costing and customer quotations for all production parts, prototypes and tooling for new programs, and manage the process for obtaining customer purchase orders through the program manager and account manager
•    Maintain management reports for program status and performance targets (including payback, contribution margin on production parts, prototype costs and margin, tooling, engineering costs, and pre-production costs for assigned programs)
•    Maintain sub-ledgers for tooling and prototype inventory 
•    Review and approve all cost changes that are made to cost master files that affect program costs
•    Develop fiscal program sales and cost of sales budgets
•    Daily cash management reconciliation and reporting
•    Monitor and report payroll information for the plant
•    Completes corporate reporting requests within deadlines.
•    Ability to assume select responsibilities of the Controller as needed.
•    Ensure compliance with safe work practices, Magna safety protocol and the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario.  Make recommendations for improvement of the safety program when applicable.
•    Performs other duties as required
