Job Introduction:

Manage the effective operation of the production, material, and technical team. Ensure that our products are produced efficiently; that they are of the right quality; and that they are produced on time, to the satisfaction of the customer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct the Company health and safety objectives and support the company’s health and safety directives to provide a safe and healthful workplace for all employees, this includes:
    • Regulatory compliance with local, state and federal legislations.
    • Establishing plant-wide measurable and goals that meet or exceed industry standards, and are monitored, tracked and audited on a regular basis and communicated to employees.
    • Recognition of accomplishments/milestones in the areas of safety, environmental, ergonomics and employee wellness.
    • Development of effective programs that increase employee awareness and involvement in the areas of safety, environmental, ergonomics and employee wellness
    • Accountability of supervisors for enforcing safety rules and implementing the necessary training and corrective actions to ensure proper focus on established objectives.
  • Manage production schedules; staying within budgetary boundaries and time restrictions; monitoring the production processes and/or labor requirement schedule as necessary.
  • Directly responsible for the supervision and daily activities of the production, material and technical team.
  • Act as a representative of the company to establish and maintain mutually beneficial partnerships with all internal departments.
  • Oversee the master schedules with the help of off shift material supervisor(s) and ensure comprehensive compliance with materials requirements for manufacturing.
  • Assure on-time and accurate delivery of product to the customer.
  • Responsible for maintaining all equipment and coordinating production activities with other departments.
  • Implement action plans to improve functionality/productivity and to obtain program and group objectives; make necessary corrective adjustments.
  • Ensure established customer specifications are met concerning cycle time, delivery and quality; implement preventative and corrective measures in the production process to assure that customer demands are properly met; coordinate with Quality team to ensure customer standards are met.
  • Keep abreast of the latest production technologies and management practices; explore means to enhance the assembly and manufacturing process.
  • Responsible for department compliance with ISO/TS16949, the environmental management system, and health and safety guidelines.  Ensures that any non-conformances are reported in a timely manner.
  • Manage and provide resources and support for continuous improvement activities as they relate to manufacturing processes, safety, product quality and all other functions.
  • Represent management for the adherence to ISO14001; reporting on the performance of the environmental management systems.
  • Provide problem solving leadership.  Responsible to ensure that all necessary departments are kept informed when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Supervise personnel by following the principals of the Magna Employee Charter; Based on fairness and concern for people, provide counseling, training and regular communication updates.
  • Identify and advise of departmental training needs.
  • Responsible for maintaining positive employee relations including fostering an open communications climate, effective resolution of employee concerns and consistent application of company policy.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in Production Management and Materials Management, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of ISO/TS16949 experience; and knowledge of ISO14001
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, as well as, strong organization skills
  • Personal computer skills
  • Understanding of manufacturing, assembly, sequencing and equipment principles
