Role Summary

To support manufacturing by layout verification and certification of parts, assemblies, and check fixtures and maintaining calibration on all instruments, fixtures, and gages.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

•    Perform layout inspection of parts, assemblies, and inspection fixtures and gages using Coordinate Measuring Machine or appropriate measuring devices.
•    Adhere to customer layout standards and methodologies.
•    Coordinate calibrations of all instruments, gages, and fixtures per the required schedules using the appropriate measurement equipment internally or through a certified calibration company.
•    Maintain up to date calibration records
•    Perform layouts of all production parts per the scheduled requirements and record data as required. 
•    Provide accurate and timely layout inspection reports to Quality Assurance Manager to meet customer SPC requirements.
•    Maintain all data and SPC information in a computer file.
•    Provide accurate and timely layout inspection reports to engineers, toolmakers and production leads as requested for issues and improvements.  (If the demands cannot be managed, QA manager will set the priorities)
•    Complete correspondence, forms and reports using computer hardware and software provided
•    Encourage safety and housekeeping practices and lead by example
•    Promote and facilitate Open Door process, effective communication and Fair Treatment
•    Participate in Continual Improvement activities
•    Adhere customer requirements, Quality Management System and company policies
•    Perform other duties as assigned

Key Qualifications/Requirements

Required Capabilities

•    Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, math data, reports, instructions and guidelines
•    Proficient in MSA and SPC  (Training to be provided)
•    Proficient in using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
•    Proficient in using measuring instruments, i.e. caliper, micrometer, height gages, etc.
•    Able to use Brown & Sharp DCC Coordinate Measuring Machine.
•    Able to demonstrate understanding of how job performance affects product quality and customer satisfaction
•    Able to work well with others; build and maintain positive employee relations
•    Able to prepare, read and interpret written reports, instructions, procedures and guidelines
•    Proficient in personal computer operation and applications in a MS Windows operating system.
•    Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees, suppliers and customer
•    Able to safely lift up to 40 pounds without assistance
•    Able to safely use slings and hoists 
•    Able to maintain punctuality and good attendance record
•    Able to maintain confidentiality, and use discretion and tact
•    Able to manage and schedule multiple priorities and meet deadlines
•    Able to work flexible hours and overtime
•    Must display a can-do attitude and be able to work and perform job responsibilities with a minimum amount of direct supervision


Qualifications, Education and Experience

•    High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
•    Successful completion of AIAG MSA Certification Exam to be done within one year from hire date. If certification expires (e.g. every 3 years) employee must be re-certified prior to expiration.

•    Primarily temperature controlled layout laboratory
•    The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees, management, customers and suppliers.
