Qualifications:
• Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
• P.Eng. designation is preferred
• Automotive Product Development experience (Mechanisms and/or Structures)
• Red X or 6σ training would be an asset
Additional Skills:
• Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced team environment with minimum supervision
• Excellent knowledge of APQP, FMEA, DVP&R, GD&T, PPAP and other core tools
• Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes/systems (Stamping, Moulding, Assembly, Welding)
• Strong presentation and analytical skills
• Maintain a valid passport and flexible to travel to customer sites in North America and abroad
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide Application Engineering support for New Program Launches
• Audit external designs for feasibility and adherence to established best practices
• Participate in Critical Design Review events and support closure of open product design issues
• Review and confirm engineering disciplines including (but not limited to)
o Component and Assembly Detail Drawings
o GD&T call outs and tolerance stack-ups
o Finite Element Structural Analysis
o DVP&R and Customer/Internal Specifications
o FMEA and Control Plans
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering team on DFM/DFA endeavors
• Support warranty reduction activities with a design focus
• Work with stakeholders to identify, validate and launch product cost reduction opportunities
• Assist Quality and Manufacturing teams with root cause analysis and permanent corrective action implementation
• Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Mytox’s Quality System and Business Operating Procedures.
• Perform duties in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
